I think he is referring to the -lightning resist not working, not the conviction aura.
Cow king in hell has 165% light resist, Infinity alone isn’t nearly enough to break that immunity.
Killercat32 could have worded this phrase better, but it is indeed true you can smash cows all day and not have to worry about killing king, if you want to.
the post didn’t specify hell so i was giving the benefit of the doubt in normal cows if you are running it to level someone an infinity merc can remove the cow kings immunity.
OHH really WRONG, Infinity does Not Break immunity for the Character Only the Merc, this is why Lightning sorcs Use Infinity in a Low Tier Pole ON The Character.
Just google it It breaks Lightning immunes for your merc, Unless you have it on your character, it’s Common to see a Light sorc Using Infinity in Pvp for this reason.
you are still incorrect the conviction aura absolutely breaks immunities and lightning is one of the lowest natural resistances on monsters which is why it is the most common to have infinity used… you really should be doing what you suggest and googling it because the fact of the matter is infinity does break immunity not only for the merc but all the players in the game the only thing it doesn’t do is add the ignore resist stat to people but the conviction aura effects mobs on a universal scale not just personal to the user.
This is correct. That’s why people use Infinity mercs all the time. The only thing that doesn’t work is the -to light res mod when a merc is wielding it (it will only effect the mercs chain lightning or lightning). A sorc has to wield it for that mod to effect her spells.
But back to the topic, they really need to fix this. This is the one change that pretty much everybody agrees with.
NO it doesn’t unless your a Merc, It has No Bearing on the Sorc skills.
if you want thee effects the Sorc Must Equip the Infinity.
your obviously not understanding this.
SO AS I SAID.
Goo to google type in,
does infinity work for the charcter on the merc
google even knows thee answer here.
Conviction aura can break a lot of immunities in hell, particularly lightning ones because for whatever reason lightning immunes tend to be less over 100%. This is why pretty much all elemental characters want to use infinity on their mercenaries. When the aura breaks the immunity, the characters spells cause damage, so yes it works for the character.
What doesn’t work is -(45-55)% To Enemy Lightning Resistance modifier, unless the character itself is wearing the Infinity. Since it’s a two-handed weapon with no +Skills/FCR/ or other real benefits to casters you don’t see this often. It seems pretty straight-forward to me that mods like that only function for the unit wearing the piece of gear, but people seem to misinterpret that a lot. Especially the fact that it won’t work on Assassin’s lightning traps. Lots of wasted Griffon’s Eye out there.
here you go killercat32 i made the absolute easiest thing for someone to understand because for some reason it’s not getting into your head any other way.
until you run across that rare pack that your not breaking immunity on, sure the aura has benefit. The ultimate effects is wearing the infinity like I said this is why you have nova sorcs with infinity.
you can’t break immunity with the non conviction part of infinity so that would be useless. yes wearing the infinity can increase lightning damage for a sorc on mobs that immunity has already been broken but the most common use of infinity is on an act 2 merc to break the immunity in the first place.
