A way to block people on forum

Is there such a thing? And if so, how ?

Yes, there is now. I made a thread when the feature rolled out. For info and instructions go here.

If you have issues making it work, let me know.

P.S. Glad to see you ignoring people who set you off vs engaging. You recognize what has gotten you into hot water before. This is good!

Does it only work from the moment you do it, or does it have effect on the persons previous posts?
Ps: hope you are doing fine in these times

I honestly don’t know. I have one person on Ignore, same person who I have ignored for years. Also make note the Ignore does have a time limit so you will have to renew it eventually. I think the time limit is silly, but it is better than nothing for now.

Doing ok all things considered.

Okay, but thanks. I will check up on if it is working. And yeah, hopefully with D4 forum, we get more features, like the old “block” system.

When I reply and quote people, it tend to vanish into thin air as well…

But for how long can you ignore someone? It was really difficult to scroll in that window…
I could not get past 2 weeks, but after it let me choose 2 months. Could not scroll down further

If you try to quote their entire post, the system sometimes auto-removes the quoted text. If you want to do that, rather than highlighting the text in their post and using the pop-up Quote button, click the Reply button, then in the editor click the left-most button that looks like a speech bubble. That should allow quoting of the entirety of their post.

Longest duration in the drop-down is four months.

What do you mean by block? Do you mean having someone not be able to post in a thread that you created? Do you mean having someone unable to reply to you? If so, there is no built in option on the forum to do that nor ever on the D3 forum to my knowledge.

You can have the forum software ignore posts from specific users for up to 4 months. It is my understanding that you will still see at least the quoted partsof an “ignored” poster if another forum poster quotes someone that you have ignored. In the old forum, I had a couple of posters on ignore but since they tended to be widely quoted by others (and therefore visible to me anyway), I gave up on using the “ignore” function.
