Well, yeah, new class is a huge thing, so they have to do it right and balanced without re-balancing the other classes in the process. The new act is easiest. It will be there as more content, nothing else. It doesn’t have to be the new Mephisto farm or Countess rune farm or Baal farm etc. Just like act 2 doesn’t get farmed but is still essential part of the game.
Well, yes and no. I am not a fan of how they are trying to balance everything in D3. And maybe it’s nostalgia, but I like the way the skills are in D2.
I dont like what they did with D3 either and i was waiting for that game 15 years. So it was huge letdown for me. But i think they learned the lesson with d3 even when they would not openly admit that d3 was failure in eyes of many diablo fans.
Lets be specific for example what i have in mind. I would like to see druid summoner to be more viable build like necro summoner. One of many examples i can provide.
Mistake in calculation. I dont recall when diablo 3 was released. My point was that i was waiting for next diablo game for years and i was so excited when we saw first informations about it as i was expection game with what diablo 2 did good and improved what it did bad.
They kind of have to fix many bugs because it would really not look good to release new buggy game and it will be new game for many who didnt play original.
OG player might not care about bugged Charge skill. New players wont accept it.
I just don’t care about new players. They can enjoy d2 for what it was/is or take a hike…spoiler alert the remaster is for the faithful not the new/casuals, truth hurts.
Most of the bugs likely to be left in the game won’t even be noticed by new players. The ones I want left in are drop rate bugs and nostalgia like jerhyn being a dick when you don’t talk to drognan, lol.
I don’t think drop rates should be changed, but bugged skills should be looked at for sure.
This might cause issue. Imagine many players being angry because they have worse drops from Andy because game doesnt work properly and its bugged as they didnt go act 2 in same game where they killed Andy.
LMAO yeah thats funny
Are you really so worried that you wont find loot without bugged Mephisto? Come on, we are hardcore fans, we know where to farm even without bugs.
The game sold around 4 million copies and if you include the illegal copies (because piracy back then was a huge problem, bigger than now) I believe the total number will be more than 6 million… Blizzard knows that and this is the ONLY reason that this game gets remastered.
Do you have D2 installed right now? if so, do me a favor and log in, check the Classic ladder.
See all the people in SC and HC that haven’t gotten the Quest for diablo yet? it’s almost every top player except for deliberate game openers. Qbugging is iconic now, especially in Classic. It will change the game immensely for Classic players, I could care less that it’s a bit higher chance on Mephisto to find Arach’s in LoD.
Small changes can have big repercussions, and change the entire value of items.
Do you have any idea how hard it would be to find a PvP grim without Qbug? it’s not okay to change the game that much just because it was a “bug” nearly 2 decades ago.
I just want to say that Diablo 3 was the fastest selling PC game in history for several years when it came out. Do you know why? Because A LOT of people love D2. It didn’t live to expectations because D2 was legendary and changes that gets us closer to D3 are not welcome.
I think this entire post is the problem. The only reason you remake a classic game is to bring the experience up to current technology standards, I.E. screen size and resolution, sound, and current server standards(this is why shared stash is happening).
The original poster has the perspective of someone who wants a game that is appealing to people who play the current generation of games. That’s stupid. You want to rate a game based on current standards of game mechanics and design approach? Rate the sequels.
Sequels are where you change the game for a current generation of players. This is not that. So what if you only play it for the nostalgia. Why else would you play it? It’s a 20 year old game, kept alive by a dedicated fan base. Ignoring the people who want an honest representation of the game they love to satisfy the tourists who will move on after a few hours of game play is foolish.
If you pursue the streamers and entitled current gen gamers, you will end up with a game your loyal fans hate, and the current gamers will abandon quickly for the next shiny thing.
I would love to see this guys review of an Asteroids remake. “repetitive play, subpar graphics, lack of upgrades or options. Why are you making this?”
