I am pretty confident that Blizzard knows they have a lot of damage control to undo.

Unfortunately, it is human nature to require ten really good things before one bad thing is swept into forgotten history. Yes the shock value was at an all-time high and a lot of people felt completely neglected.
I think they should also choose their announcer’s words more wisely. Phrases like ‘…which everyone will get to play’ are ambiguous and assume that everyone will want to play it. It seems minor but in context after that Red Shirt question, it was not the smartest thing to say, or to divert the gravity of the question into something less than it was.

Lol, I love that… keeping that comment for future uses. :ok_hand:

This kind of makes me laugh because it is true, but maybe not in the way you meant.

ATVI, the holding company, handles the stock for the publishers under it. Those include Activision Publishing, Blizzard, King Gaming, etc. So yeah, the ATVI holding company does not make games, they don’t have that capability.

Activision Publishing under ATVI, also does not have the capability to make a Diablo game. They don’t own the IP rights or have a license to use them. They have their own IP they support. So, again, you are right.

We could say the same about King, they also don’t have the capability to make a Diablo game given they make mobile games and don’t own, or license, the IP.

Yep. Fully aware. We’ve all seen that copy paste by now. I just prefer to not call the current company that exists “Blizzard.”

Just don’t call them 'Buzzard" as much as many indicate it is the carcass of what used to be 'Blizzard."

Seriously though, they still are the same company, with the same goals, just not in the way they were before Activision became involved. As to how much, nobody that does not work for them knows exactly how much.

(Bows to a gentleman rarely seen in these forums.)
In reciprocation, as I too respect your opinion sir.

I respectfully disagree, but appreciate your opinion all the same. :slightly_smiling_face:

with diablo 4 expected to be announced are we all going to form an orderly line to ask our ever active community manager what sort of micro transactions, loot boxes or surprise mechanics will be in the final game

seriously though if they couldnt be bothered to answer their own post i feel we will get every excuse under the sun on why they cant tell us what to expect and im sure many on here will yet again back them up with excuses when it comes to a total lack of information.

Add subscriptions to that list.

Bethesda announces that Fallout 76 will have exactly that. $13 a month or $100 a year…for a broken mess of a game that’s not even an MMO.

One can imagine Activision Blizzard, EA, Epic Games and others taking notes.

Loot boxes may well be banned so they come up with some other BS to maintain their lust for greed.

The saddest part is they could go for the tougher to earn money and make a game for sale, have yearly or biyearly content for sale (xpac’s and char/content dlc’s) and have cosmetics (wings, pets, mounts) for direct sale. Yes, this method would make less profit, but it would make more than enough profit to sustain the game. They would capture that large part of the market that believes they should get fair value for fair pay. This method is something they could announce proudly with the game and they could regain some of the respect they have lost with their customers over the years.

What they probably will do is go with the (sl)eazy monetization for the game. They will most likely fill it full of loot boxes and other P2W mechanics to go for the money from people with no self control. These will be ninja added shortly after the games release and after it has been through initial reviews. Rather than proudly announce their monetization model, they will make incredibly lame excuses on why they can’t tell people what the model is.

Well they announced immortal last blizz con. It has not even come into play. I expect nothing to happen blizz con. Fires burning? Doubtful.

the maintain the game tagline for loot boxes is a lie ever since the first time some sleazy marketing idiot claimed so, its for pure profits and keeping the shareholders and chief execs bonuses ticking over.

i just cant wait to see how much of a song and dance it ends up being to get a straight answer out of anyone before diablo 4 ships about what monitisation will look like. if the games 2 years off (my own personal view) we wont hear anything this year unless they go with a hard firm no to any such things, which i cant see happening. but if its 6 months or closer, for example once the pre orders go up if they still cant give an answer id guess it will be festooned with all of the above and probably something else we’v never seen before because gotta get all the money!

I dare Blizzard to add predatory monetization into Diablo 4.

Do they throw away what’s left of their tattered reputation to make their shareholders happy

or

Do they have the balls to stand up against the greed and side with the gamers?

yeah i some how expect them to step up to that dare, because money!

Hey Neverlistens and devs (bosses) we dont forgot your “QUICK” word

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I’d gladly pay a D4 monthly sub if it meant no microtransactions, no pay to win, and a game more like D2 with frequent content updates

I think they could have a Season Pass in addition to each season. Those that buy the pass can get more cosmetic rewards etc. Those that don’t get it can still play season of course just not unlock some of the new cosmetics. And then maybe $20-30 expansions over the year to get a bit more money from those that don’t buy the season pass.

I would also be fine with $5/month. That is only $60/year which would be the cost of 2 expansions or 1 major expansion anyways. Basically just like doing a layaway plan. But I feel like a subscription would cause a lot of people to not be able to play. So prefer the Season pass idea.
