Windows 11 and D2R

Before you all REEEE up and down the block idc about the debate on win11 itself at all, keep it to yourself or go tell your momma.

My question is specifically about D2R on W11 and how it seems to be running for those who are on it. Anyone was on 10 and had issues, went to 11 and it got better? Worse?

I already run it on my laptop where I only really stream netflix and check email, but a little more willing to wait on my main PC if there are issues.

Runs just fine for me with Windows 11… I ran the D2:R Beta with Win11 beta, it ran fine as well.

Ryzen 9-3900x
ASRock Extreme 4 X570
16GB RAM
GTX 1080Ti

YMMV

Also play it at work on my work machine, nearly identical specs as above, but a GTX 1070. This system is running Windows 10. Still plays just fine.

the only thing i read about windows 11 overall , is that it can decrease fps up to 28%
but only read that in an article , dunno if it’s true or not.
haven’t installed it , i’ll be waiting a few months for that :stuck_out_tongue:

I installed Win11 on my home machine just so I can get a grasp on it for work purposes. I made a full system image beforehand of course.

I mainly use the keyboard/command prompt to get around and do things, which is nearly identical to Windows 10. Honestly Win11 feels just like Windows 10 with an altered GUI.

Runs just as good as it did on Win10 for me, performance should be identical if not a bit better on Win11.

yeah i have used the os and it’s pretty much win10 with some new paint, just curious about stability. thanks for the replies :grinning:

I’ve had very little issues with Windows 11 so far; Been a great experience
System specs: an old i7-4770k 16gb ram and an rtx 2070 and an old dogfish ssd (pre M.2)

there is a problem with ryzen amd cpus I heard, they said they are releasing a patch for it at the end of the month, you lose at least 10% performance I heard but I didn’t dig into it

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll keep track of this before upgrading.

AMD has said all ryzen cpu have a WIN11 like 15% performance hit due to an issue with scheduler and will fix later via windowsu pdate AND software.

but for a gaem liek Diablo wont really matetr much.

More like it feels like what would result if Windows 10 had a baby with macOS. I like macOS, but that’s because Apple at least knows how to make the OS mostly intuitive. MS on the other hand…well, let’s just say their “dock” sucks. Not a big fan of that feature in macOS either since every time I mouse down toward the bottom of the screen to do horizontal scrolling, the dock pops up and blocks what I’m trying to click on (you can’t perma-hide the dock just like you can’t perma-hide the Windows taskbar, only the dock is larger and more obnoxious).

That’s kind of what I thought when I saw the new “dock”.

I had to move the start button back to the left. I kept automatically moving my mouse down to the bottom left when it was in the center and thinking “where’d start go?” :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there any way to actually jettison that dock entirely in Windows 11 and get the regular taskbar back? It really is one of the few things I absolutely loathe about macOS and wouldn’t want it in Windows at all.

We just have to go back to doing everything on the command line… D:

Outside of using Classic Start (formerly Classic Shell), I don’t know of any way.

Ugh, we’re back to having to use a shell program to emulate it? That’s…ghetto. I mean Windows 8 ghetto.

Eh, I use keyboard commands mostly, which are largely unaffected. :man_shrugging:

I use a combination of both. That and OCD makes me rage at changes like this.

i do really dislike the new start menu. you can move it to the left like the old one, but it’s just so much less useful and i don’t bother using it.

worse, they took away the taskbar right click context menu stuff
