WindForce or EagleHorn?

So I was farming and found eaglehorn but I forget it had ignores targets defense.I know windforce has higher damage but ingores targets defense would be a better attribute.Has anyone ever tested to see which one does more damage?

Ignore Target Defense is useful for PVM minimum dex/attack rating bowazon setups. Guided arrow for the bosses. Allows for a less glassy build.

Eaglehorn starts off OK but drops off once you get past level 80 or so since the attack rating/chance to hit bonuses become more and more irrelevant compared to damage.

I’m going to be testing about 20+ bows once the new patch hits and will post the results.

high roll upped goldstrike > windforce > eaglehorn

An upped Goldstrike overall is roughly on par or slightly above Eaglehorn, both of which perform at 2/3rds of the level of a Windforce.

Goldstrike is also annoying with the FoH proc causing a casting delay which prevents you from attacking for a brief period of time.

+3 15% Faith Grand Matron Bow> Windforce>Eaglehorn>Rest.

Windforce always before Eaglehorn, but Eagle will do its thing for you until you get one of the end game bows.

well i actually found a wf a few days ago in the pits, just wasnt sure if the ignores target defense output more damage than wf cause I dont have a bowazon to test this with

Either way it’s 179 average damage vs 291. With a full charm loadout you could take that to around 204 vs 326 You’ll end up seeing a damage difference in the order of 700 - 5.7k per shot vs 600 - 8k per shot in GG gear. Rough math mind you.

Eaglehorn will work just fine. Windforce will work even better. You should not be having Attack Rating issues on a Bowazon.

Eagle is too slow. But damage is good.
Windforce is the best bow.
To all people saying that Faith is so much better…WF is on par with Faith. The higher your level, the better WF gets.

Faith has better DPS overall but WF can get 100% pierce and has better ammo conservation. They’re definitely in the same league as each other.

I’ll tell you what these other comments haven’t…

go to your search browser and type in: " maxroll d2 planner "

click on the first top URL link. once you are on that website, get comfortable with it. put in all your exact gear, and select your exact target(s) and see that actual calculation. Its more accurate than random forums comments.

I’m sure it’s easy enough to recommend a tool without denigrating other people’s comments in this thread. Just my 2 cents.

The web address of the tool is at the below for those that wanted to run their own numbers:

Ignore target’s defense doesn’t work on non-trash mobs, which is exactly where you would need the higher hit % because those mobs are the higher level ones to begin with. For a multishot or strafe build the affix might as well not exist and you can just compare raw dmg values. And since you already know that Windforce has more dmg…

ITD doesn’t work on bosses or players. That’s where guided arrow comes into play if you’re running a ITD/min dex/AR bowazon.

Definitely correct that it’s sheet damage is less, but with extra IAS and increase not not only max damage the average hit is roughly the same as Windforce with less variation. The issue with IAS and Windforce essentially requires you to already have Faith to meet the same IAS breakpoint as an upped Goldstrike, which can achieve an even higher IAS breakpoint when heavily geared.

But at the end of the day if you can afford a runeword bow, then you really shouldn’t even be using a Windforce or Goldstrike. My perspective was mostly coming from only comparing unique bows.

*this is also completely ignoring the changes being made to FoH in 2.4 so it will be interesting to see how it performs
