Then pitch it as a suggestion to the devs.
I can assure you any competent lawyer would disagree with this “Korean dev”.

He is seeing all items on the ground
The loot filter mod work by altering/shortening items display name
Not a dev, community manager at Best
One thing they COULD do is item label prioritization. Highest priority always shows first.
1: Quest items, uniques, runewords*, sets.
2: Runes, rares, magics, crafts, gems.
3: Normal/Superior/Sockets.
4: Everything else.
*Ya never know, someone might accidently poop an enigma on the ground.
Do you know him? do you call him at home? Dont they have a seperate Korean Developement team?
Any competent Lawyer would run from this conversation.
Its already been pitched to the devs more times then can be counted.
Im all for loot filters. The devs should def put it high up on the QOL to do list .
For now they should at least go on record and say witch ones are ok to use like Nexus or a LF that simply acts as a skin.
If its a loot filter that works in conjuction with other features or alters game files then I would agree its a tos violation.
I see no problem if we will be able to choose which items goes in which category
Oh it sure does change how you play.
D2r dev team is public
Do your research
Funny enough, i am a competent lawyer, was…retired now…and not even 30yo
They would be reading the EULA and would disagree with you.
It’s cheating to be able to filter loot drops from a pile of mess on the ground?
At the very least, Blizzard needs more colors to distinguish between items. Hell, even gems are white.
I love how socketed, ethereal, and socketed ethereal are all Gray. Nothing like having to pick up each item to check what it is when your inventory is full of charms(that’s another failed design). The process is even worse on Console.
that is 1, c , ii, 2 but ignoring 1, 3, and 4
As a Lawyer ill read the end user license and explain because i see many people reading just a part of it and trying to apply their thinking, so:
Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein:
You cannot read parts of a text and find what you want, this Text, for example, to be considered a cheat you would need it to be a Hardware/software or both, or otherwise (wich means similar methods in law), if its not, the rest of the sentence doesnt apply to everything else that could “influence and/or facilitate” gameplay. So, if you are using a software created to do that, its a cheat, if you are using the mod system inside the game (wich was created by Blizzard itself), its not cheating.
This one not even care about changing software, its just autamtion, so no filters.
This one is about changing the engine of the software, in any way at all, wich is not how internal mods work. Injection is more about the cheat part in fact.
This is the only part that could, maybe, be in a discussion about if modding with the current internal mod that blizzard created for the game, is ok to use online or not.
Yet, this is absolutely arguable.
All that being said, if Blizzard will use their ban hammer in filters doesnt matter if its correct or wrong, because Blizzard have banned wrongly in the past and not banned some things that should be bannable too.
So do it by your own risk.
Actually it does. It’s automating the process of finding items easily onscreen. As much as we might not want to admit it, it’s doing something for us that the game cannot do within its own current set of limitations.
For anyone that is considering such a mod, do be aware that if you are using external software or hardware to perform an activity not available from within the game’s controls and UI, you risk account action. That said, this is really a feature that should be given to players so they can make their own choice as to whether they want to see a screenful of items or just the one(s) they are hunting for. Less clutter leads to far more readability and for that alone loot filters get ten thumbs up from me.
Its not automating anything. Automating implies some sort of action being taken. Its not picking up loot for me, I still decide what I pick up. Its a skin.
There is a redit article that said korean streamers asked a Dev (Im not sure if its a korean dev or just the streamers are Korean) but at any rate. The Dev said as long as it doesnt give an unjust advantage its OK.
No it’s not, it’s information, which leads to player decision.
It’s a mod, which is not currently supported by any means. It qualifies as external software under the EULA until such time as Blizzard actually officially enables and/or OKs mod support. And any attempt to use loot filters online is most definitely actionable as that is not available to players via the game itself. And yes, it is an advantage over others in a multiplayer game.
Want to guarantee you aren’t going to risk anything? Don’t use external software with D2R. Loot filters are one of the most requested things by players, so there is a chance Blizzard is listening. Once it is available natively to every player as an option, then it no longer violates any provisions of the EULA and ToU.
When it comes to certain LF’s. They are by definition a skin. Just like d2r is to d2.

Again Dev said it was OK. What dont you get about that?
It does fall into that category and can be bannable. It alters game files.

Link to where this is stated. Also, being a Korean dev stating it’s OK and not hearing from anyone outside of that little cheater’s bubble doesn’t make it OK. There have been many instances of something out of Korea being said that had to be retracted or rescinded before.

Yes, loot filters will get you banned. This isn’t arguable and is incredibly plain to read.
