I play single player therefore I’ve access to mods, and I tell you mates - even with 10x increased drop rate high runes are way too rare sight. I’m not speaking of Jah or Ber, but Pul, Mal etc. up to Ist. If runes up to Ist would drop as common as Dol/Hel now it’d be I think pretty well balanced - with constant supply of early high runes we could be able to transmute into higher ones in some reasonable time.

I completely agree. If it were increased by 10X … ten times zero is still zero. That is still unacceptable

I have a family, a job, other hobbies so my game time is about 8-16h per week split between multiple games and I still was able to have an Enigma & Infinity, both self rolled, since Dec '21, in less than 200h invested in the game. I rolled all my runewords(2xfortitude, coh, multiple griefs, faith, botd, 2xdeath, exile etc) except Pride…to expensive just for a niche merc weapon for my bowazone).
You need to farm fast and efficiently. And of course you need to be lucky. Stop using atrocious density farming builds like zealer, fury druid, frenzy barb for farming runes. You need to kill as many mobs as possible in the shortest time, ideally in games with other players in order to decrease ‘nodrop’ chances.
Drop rates are more than fine.

This is insanely lucky RNG, btw.
I literally just a few hours ago did a very similar calculation, someone purportedly paid 20 Jahs to buy a Jewel.
I instinctively thought, and then ran a few calcs, that there can be no single player in legitimate possession of 20 Jahs. I used Hellforge rushing, and calculated we need 60,000 Hellforges to loot (the equivalent of) 20 Jahs.
I do not think there is more than 20K (real, physical, biological) players on D2R as it is, let alone all of them sending their Jahs to that person.
I suspect a combination of extreme botting and duping.
With trading you can easily possess wealth well beyond that of 20 jahs at this point in the ladder. Even if you started at 0 and didn’t use any hoarded FG on shady websites like JSP. As long as there is a market and you shamelessly manipulate it you can acquire wealth extremely fast. Whether said person chooses to hoard jahs to trade with or bers is of little relevance, but as these 2 are the highest valued runes they are very common to stack.
There are definitely more than 20k real players that contributed to the ladder economy, and even with just 20k it would be enough to produce far beyond 20 jahs. Now while bots do exist, I have yet to see any clear indication of actual duping being present.
Decent clear speed (40sec/run) should net you a Sur worth of rune value every 8th hour, meaning a Ber every 16th. If you hork it goes much faster, 1 sur worth of rune every ~5th hour. 150h for a Ber means you are farming terribly slow, not even in line with your very low estimate of 50 runs/hour (72sec/run). You should be seeing a Ber worth of rune value atleast within 30 hours, on average ofc. You could’ve been extremely unlucky, but that would be an outlier.
For some reason my other comment was deleted. Anyways I have been playing since laddder start. I am level 90 on three of my characters and the highest rune I have found is an IST rune. I have talked to my friends and they share this similar sentiments and also reading these forums I am seeing similar stories.
There is NO POSSIBLE way for someone to have already enigma. infinity,hoto,cta, last wish and other high end runewords and claim they found all of the runes. I am tired of hearing this major copium from people who claim this, when we know good and well where the runes came from. They are gained by an illegal methods which involves paying for them.
The reason these guys always tell a lie and claim they found them is simple. because they do not want to get banned for cheating. because it is cheating. and also we know that the drop rate is around 1 in 110,000 for BER rune alone, so your chance in a regular game to find one is about 0.01% chance to find it, but to hear these guys tell their story , they find a BER rune every few games! amazing. They must have some luck that I’ve never seen before.
We can tell now with 500 replies that people want high rune changes, I hope blizzard will listen and implement these changes very soon!

You realize that you can trade in game right? Hello? You being level 90 on three characters with just an Ist to show for says more about you than anything else. Ladder is over a month old. Getting all those items legit is nowhere near impossible.
Got any examples of someone claiming this?
Sir I have actually been in games where people claim to have found a ber, then say they found jah and then say they are finding the base to make infinity, all in the same game, and they ping the items in chat so that it can look more “legit” I don’t know why they put a charade that they’re finding the items (Probably to not look suspicious and get a ban for this cheating)
There is no way a player goes into a game and finds the runes to make infinity all in one go like I’ve seen these guys claim.
Also sir I have met a guy in game who had 43 ber runes and 61 jah runes and he admitted that he buys them, he said he uses a site called JSP and he buys all of these runes for real. He said he hasn’t got time to play the game and needs to get the runes fast so he can actually enjoy the PVP aspect of things.
So you will be ashamed to know that many of these guys are ADMITTING it in game!
Oh and P.S WE all know where these high runes are coming from. It is not legit means, it is coming from either bot or duper community. How else do you think they have them for eight bucks?

High Runes are meant to be exclusive and therefore coveted. I still get excited when a Ber, Jah, Lo drops haha. We do need a Rune degrade recipe though.

Why would anyone ever use cham rune or zod rune for a rune word. when you can get jah and ber runes out of them.
And with that knowledge, dont you think Cham and Zod would be more sought after? Mrllama had enigma day 1 of ladder because his mass of followers helped him cube up hell forge runes. Since we can cube up, its only reasonable that we should be able to cube down.
I think it’s fascinating that right after I make a post that exposes a lot of these guys who are getting their HR’s from these illegal methods, either bot or site. Then there is a huge slide effort by one paragraph posts to get that topic moved off.
None of these guys are explaining how they are getting so many runes with a 0.01% drop chance, 1 in 110,000 or anything like that, all they’re interested in doing is posting a bunch of junk on here to slide the topic off of the bot user and the duper . and to take the heat off themselves because we know they are cheating.
Prove me wrong, so far not a single person has taken me up on the offer to do a group MF game where we run together and you show me all these HR that drop. not a SINGLE person will do it because they know it will take over 200 hours to find this HR and no person who has a job will be able to dedicate this much work to finding a singular HR.

Nihlatak, then clear Halls of Anguish, then Halls of Pain. Lots of squishy mobs to eliminate quickly. Are you asking for some 1 to hold your hand and do it for you? If so, you will never get anything even if it drops.
I dont have Problems with bots and i dont use jsp. Or whatever its called.
