Not just the game, I do too
The game came from a Rogue-like backgroud, this means they intended for each playthrough to be different from another, thus very variable loot drops. Some itemās have chances of 1:10000 on bosses. You will never, ever see them.
But the reality is: you donāt need them.
My Blizz Sorc is lvl 80 and her items are ābudgetā, she stills 1 shot everthing that isnāt cold-immune (double spirit, lore helm, skin of vipermagi, rare rings, frostburns).
Gear is overrated.
Then you are sick of this game. Go play D3 or some other casual arpg. The game works how it works, and has for 20+ years. Its not gonna change to make 1 guy on a forum that is sick of it happy.
If I get sick of a game I dont force the developers to change it or delete it. I stop and play something else.
If anyone has ever played old pen & paper Dungeons and Dragons - Remember this: The OG Devs came from that world.
They are the worst, most brutal DMās you could ever have.
(*edit: Not saying you would not have had a great time with the Devs. Iām sure they were GOOD DMās - but unforgiving.
Iām just happy they didnāt include āCharacter Sanityā like in Call of Cthulhu pen & paper lol)
Back in LOD I just found one Gulā¦ maybe 2 Ists. And I played it a lotā¦
These days I mostly just play casually, too.
But since D2R I learned how to farm more efficient at the right places. THAT was a game changer for me. In this season I found a Vex, Ohm and a Chamā¦ and some smaller stuff.
Check the top 2, 3 farming sports for YOUR class and spec and clear the zone over and over againā¦ donāt give up. The runes are waiting for you to get looted by you =)
500 runs for an Ist? Thatās insane and exactly what heās complaining about.
Since D2R launched i found 1 Ber and 2 Jah and i play everyday. That wonāt go far with 10-20 characters.
Not everyone lives in momās basement and plays D2 6-8 hours/day. Iām not sure why people get upset when we talk about upping the rune drop rate. Even doubling it would make little to no difference.
Iāve always thought they should change the rates similar to Path of Diablos linear drop rates.
1:236 in p1 hell countess for Ist runes.
Guess you either waste a lot of your playtime or you donāt know how to farm runes.
Neither do I. Still finding plenty of items and runes and made 99 this ladder.
Doubling the runes would make a difference for those who are already able to find HRs. Those who donāt know how wonāt feel a difference until they drop every run.
That would basically kill the game, as there is nothing left to do once you hit 99 and you are geared to the teeth, since they made PvP even worse.
Maybe you should just learn the game instead of crying about drop rates. Or you could just play a game that satisfies your instant gratification needs better, like D3.
EDIT.: Just found another Jah rushing somebody.
I canāt speak for anyone else but in my opinion Blizzard went from one extreme to the other between D2 and D3. I still have my original cds from the 90s for this game and the LOD expansion that came later. If you recall then, people got frustrated with the drops and they adapted. Out came the bots, out came methods to dupe items. Out came buying your gear online from a third party provider. All of that turned me off of public games. Twenty plus years later, I still love the game online but I play solo. Consequently, I have never made an Engima or a Breath of the Dying. I have never found a Tyraelās Might. Mutliple lvl 90+ chars. Prior to the terrorized zones, I would solo to lvl 92 and call it quits. With the terrorized zones, Iām higher. Slogging my way to lvl 97. After that, weāll see. Itās pretty tedious on players 1. I wish Blizzard would add /players for online play because the player base is not what it used to be twenty years ago.
For you, I would encourage you to build first, a farming sorc, then a smiter. After that, my third character is a BO barb so I can more speedily run dangerous areas with a sorc. (Dying takes hours to regain the experience on players 1 once your above 90 so donāt die :)) You will find some decent stuff but you wont have godly gear. So enjoy the journey!
Its because you donāt need nice gear to play this game. But if you really wanna all top end game gear, then you just play single player and set players to 8.
I horked a Lo and found a Lo in singleplayer players 1. Maybe 2-3 weeks of playing barb and sorc.
Made fort and grief, quit because the game got ez.
Yepā¦ once you get end game gear, you just quit d2 because become too easy or play SP with mods
Funny I actually love just playing it without all the super runewords because everytime I reach those I get bored and quit.
Than you have horrible luck or play less than casual, things like Ber donāt drop often true and have not found many runes of that caliber, but Ist is not that hard to find and not uncommon to have on a full playthrough.
Because itās been like this for 20 years and you donāt just change such a rudimentary dynamic after itās been established for so long. A new group of D2 players arenāt coming. I donāt play 8 hours a day, and never can make enigmas in a ladder. But thatās what makes a huge drop so exciting. Not every game has to be āeasy to find the good stuffā. Why get rid of one of the last remaining games that arenāt like that. EVERYTHING has to be the same game? Thatās ridiculous.
^ literally this!
Everyone who can not appreciate it just stop complain and play d3 or better, d4 is coming, you got your shooty game there.
I have been playing quite a bit since D2R came out and finally, this ladder, I made my first Enigma EVER and my first INFINITY ever. Also my first CTA and HOTO ever!
Suddenly it just happened. Just keep playing and good things will come.
This game has no end-game. Itās just an endless grind for the gear and when you have everything you just loose any motivation to login until next ladder/season reset. I never had problem to make few CTA, HOTO, Grief on initial phase of a ladder since I pretty much spam Meph at the beginning for uniques and his council drops a lot of HR for me.
Im a casual player and I gave an entire account away with JAH runes and all that. I restarted cause I had everything and I play(or used to play) maybe an hour a day.Now I play once a week
Ists are not all that hard to find and/or assemble. As to Ber, you might never find, and yet that doesnāt mean you canāt obtain oneā¦ either by assembling and/or trading.
Very repetitive and boring.
Thatās the key to success in a gear grinding game.
You can always run around and kill random monsters and do whatever you want, but then you canāt complain that you donāt get your desired items.
