I tried to love PoD, but just couldn’t gin up much interest. I liked the concepts they were working on, but not the execution. Am loving D2R right now, but wished there were a better endgame that uses PoD’s approach, only competently.
Again all we need is an additional difficulty. Personally I disliked the “maps” concept as they bored the crap out of me, and I hated rolling them. Felt like “oh how annoying this this crap going to be, and do I even care about the xp/drops.” It’s wasn’t hard, it was just annoying. 90% of the work was rezzing my merc to cleanse curses…
An additional difficulty fits the existing theme of the game without feeling out of place. It just needs to be difficult enough to require some GG gear to complete. Hard enough to make the vocal minority cry nerf on the forums, and hopefully Blizzard wouldn’t nerf it for the normies. (They would though sadly.)
I’d say it’s more a request to eliminate game sniping while still leaving open the chance that someone might rush you.
Since you can snipe games /players x is already available. This just cuts out the sniping necessity.
What we really don’t need in D2 is even less reason to join others games…
Can we move the P8 hype over to a new difficulty mode hype? New game mode with difficulty tuned to what P15 would be and drops tuned to what P9 would be.
So with infinite supply and infinitely low demand, you never have a price point. Everyone has the item in the quantities they want. It becomes like trading for a health potion or arrows, no one does it.
So what? This also happens naturally over time in non ladder. Shako went from Ist to Lem value. Given more time other items will drop in price as the supply increases perpetually and demand decreases.
Note there is no more character deletion after inactivity. So items don’t go away even if players quit.
That just proves the OPs argument is invalid.
Its a feature already in the game, it benefits all players, not just the exploiters, adds some depth of challenge as well as a bit more reward for the extra effort, its an easy change to be behind.
The only concession should be the nerf of the LK and other superchests, to not benefit from this.
Doesn’t benefit me. So again, not valid. It’s a detriment.
Sure it does? Just because you choose not to use it, does not mean it doesnt benefit you.
You cannot argue it doesnt bring a level playing field to bnet. There are alot of moving pieces to it, but bottom line, its already in the game unlike some of the other changes requested around here.
Unless they fix the lobby, game list, and make coop without having a set group, actually feasible, this will continue to be requested BY PLAYERS WHO DONT PLAY OFFLINE.
It’s 100% a detrimate because it means less open games for me to join.
Well, what open games are you looking to join? For what purpose?
XP? Farming while chatting with people. Asking to trade rushes in game. You know human interaction in a multiplayer game?
How does non-botters getting to play players 8 affect you negatively unless you’re a botter??
You lose profit from the real money vendors…?
Without players 8 – I will use real money vendors, and encourage botters as a side effect.
The game does not respect my time well enough at the moment.
A Jah is not worth 100 hours of my life, for the content required to grind for it.
It’s not like you have to play a 100 hour campaign to get a Jah, it’s literally just running Travincal a couple of thousand times.
Players 8 would make it less insane.
I will encourage botting, until there’s new content worth my time, or reasonable drop rates worth my time.
Players 8 is enough to make me stop supporting botters.
Wont be effected to the level you think. Players who cannot use P+2 for questing, xp, general farming (not griefing), will continue to create public games for those purposes.
Read my next post. I get that you are anti social but ffs just read.
That would only be true if one could clear p1 and p8 at the same speed.
Otherwise, drops increase as p increases but time spent also increases as monsters have more hp.
If one can clear p1 and higher ps with similar efficiency, it shows only that p1 difficulty is not challenging for that character.
The actual solution to your problem, is not P8, it’s instanced loot… otherwise known as PLOOT. If everyone had their own loot, then grouping for MFing would be not only desirable, but actively persued… everyone would want as many people at the boss kill as they could have, to increase their amount of items…
This would also encourage group play and community. Join a game, someone says I have X amount of MF, let me get the last kill and everyone is happy. Those characters who need to stack specific gear can benefit from someone else in game that has 600, while not loosing out on any drops.
The only reason people want P8 is because the game actively punishes you for grouping if you are looking for gear.
You did not answer any questions. Not one.
So. I have 1 hour to play.
It’s 11 o clock.
Zero people I trust are online.
I don’t want to add more people to my friends list, and just starting to chat with people is a giant waste of my one hour, as you need to play with people for dozens of hours to know if you can trust them even somewhat – and even then, you really can’t; you don’t know when you’ll never see them online again, and you don’t know what happens if you drop a high rune on the ground in a private game, even if they don’t steal the first or second time you drop a high rune.
I have no reason to trust anyone to actually let me pick up a Jah rune if they can snag it first.
Thus my only option is to just leech the games with the highest player counts, which is ineffective.
I get that you don’t have any respect what so ever for other people’s time, and don’t understand that games are a way to escape from people to play a game where we at least can pretend there’s decent people, like our mercenary, and don’t seem to understand that the only people that are hurt by the lack of players 8 are people that want to play the game, but don’t, because of the lack of players 8 for online characters.
We used to have it, for open Bnet characters.
It’s a feature they took away.
And your solution sucks.
If you get a party of 8, there’s bound to be at least one ‘leader’ wasting my time, or someone screwing up, or not respecting agreed terms – or wanting to run the areas you want to run. And you can’t trust the party to nor raid your area, so you have to pick up and ID everything immediately, and risk losing your bosses to other players.
…the current solution is optimal for botters:
They get to play players 8 hassle free with perfect timers, no downtime, and without the risks and downsides of playing with people.
And it’s more effective for me to NOT play the game, spend a couple of hours doing some professional work, and just buy stuff from botters, than grinding stuff myself.
…I would have joined trade games if there were players 8.
I would have created more trade games if there was players 8.
I would have supported botters less if there was players 8.
I would have played the game more online if there was players 8.
There would be less botting if there was players 8.
I would have played more socially with other people if there was players 8 to do the heavy grinding.
Wrong, P8 would be used with Solo Online play, meaning you already have instanced loot.
