I was normally playing the game, didnt check the launcher for the maintenance (why would I when i was focusing on game). Then boom, first i got dc, then my characters vanished, and when they finally appeared, i got stuck.
Its now 3 hours later ± and im still stuck, cant login to any game… hopefuly it gets fixed soon

played all morning just fine… came back down after lunch and was at the main menu… havent been able to use a character since. My main is stuck in a game… and the rest “cant communicate with the server” TF IS WRONG! FIX IT!
I was playing hours ago fine.
Ate, watched soem tv, came back again hours later and my character has los ta lvl and is stuck in a game and thus I can’t play. (even making new character just gets infinite black screen when try to start game)

How has this launch been so infuriating? One or two of my friends are always on while one or two of us are always locked out. Its so disheartening. How?!

exactly… I was in game
I was playing in server ASIA last night. It wasn’t had any maintenance announcer. My character was rollback data after completed Nightmare. His level decreased from 60 to 56 and I have been lost many good items. Then I wasted 2 hours for nothing. Their servers and their devs are really bad which makes me feel very much regret buying this game. So I want to take back my money. I will never buy or support anything for this company anymore.

Same too, difference is i was on America server. I’m 100% sure there wasn’t an ingame notification as of what the maintenance is all about and when it starts happening. Seriously going to consider a refund, what a letdown.
They did kick people before maintenance. They keep people locked under the desks just for such special occasions 
It’s interesting to be honest and i am starting to be curious what the solution will be.
I’ve been playing all evening yesterday (Europe) with a buddy of mine in Hardcore. At around 12:15 PDT a friend from my battle.net F-List informed me about the maintenance which didn’t affect us at all until then and after.
Blizzard Customer Support said it won’t affect all servers and we should log off to avoid rollbacks which we blatantly ignored. Later on they announced that they pause the server restarts and keep working on freeing other characters.
As of now we can still create / join games and do whatever we want. Maybe it is useful for Blizzard to compare accounts that are free and accounts / characters that are locked up.
My brother, cousin and I were playing together before and during maintenance. None of us got a message about it, then about half an hour into maintenance I got dropped from the game and saw the notice in the launcher. But that’s 3 people who are online together and nobody getting a message about maintenance.
youre the lucky one… my character was stuck and today unstuck but i lost items… yay… oh and progression i wasted hours on is gone…
what i lost ? not just a random loot item but a set piece… those aint exactly common…
why didnt they ? incompetence is the answer… blizzard killed WC3, at least D2 isnt in as bad a state but lets be real here… blizzard or activision only seek to milk whats left before they move on to the next thing… saddens me to say so
