Why D3 is much better than D2?

That explains everything.

Any other lame casual disposable game that doesn’t last for more than 2 weeks?

Yet in D3, you can farm any area in the entire game and get the top drops as long as you have cleared GR 70 solo.

D2 top drops are restricted to certain areas leading those areas to be farmed repeatedly. In D3, you can farm any area for top drops with the caveat noted above.

My point is that the games are different. I am not trying to argue one is better than the other but I think it is appropriate to judge each without bias.

ok still no point. still repetitive in either case. still doesn’t change that D3 is a game for people who don’t want to sit around playing for weeks and months without being able to fully gear their char while d2 is for people who want to play a game with rare drops.

nothing is wrong with either philosophy. choose the game you want, don’t beg that d2 should be like d3. end of story.

Sad see so many people with the same stupid argument “stop playing it” “go play another game”. Congratulations for all of you. You guys don’t have any personal opinion?

dude you have 2 very different games to choose from with D2 & D3 yet people like you are trying to suggest D2 should be more like D3. Yes we all know drops in D2 suck but that is why many of us LOVE D2 over D3!

Your personal opinion is 20 years too late. D2/D2R is not changing. They aren’t going to update it to what you want it to be. All those changes are for D4.

True but that being said, there are 23 tc87 areas and an additional 14 just below tc87. But yeah some drops are pretty much exclusive to certain bosses.

The roadblock for people I think is they cant overcome the feeling they aren’t maximizing thier time/chances. So they pigeonhole themselves into doing the same repetitive runs instead of branching out. You can get lucky just about anywhere. But again you might not find the very specific your looking for (max gc life skillers for example)

It is just a difference in perception. In D2, certain item drops are very rare. In D3, the “base” item drop is not rare. What I mean is you can get for example, a legendary deathwish that facilitates your build as a wizard. The better version (i.e. ancient deathwish is 10X more rare). The potentially even better version (i.e. primal ancient) is 400X more rare.

So finding a rare item in D2 is obviously rare. Finding a primal ancient item is also rare in D3.

Whoooot? :scream: “go play another game” is my personal opinion on your topic!

yes I agree, rare items are just flat out rare in d2 whereas you can easily get crappy versions of all legs/sets in D3 but getting ancients/primals were much more difficult. nothing inherently wrong with either way, it is about your taste. just hate these sort of threads and blanket statements that claim one is better than the other. people like OP should keep their personal opinion to themselves. both games have their own merit and fan base.

While you are correct that D2 also is repetitive when it comes to the grind, endless baal runs is actually just a meme that only a noob or lvl 99 pusher would concern themselves with. I haven’t done a public baalrun in over a month because it’s a waste of time when it comes to loothunting. And in my solo runs I much prefer other areas to farm (though WSK and throne is not actually bad).

My sense is that D2 there is a far quicker game turnover (i.e. more game created per unit time) on average than D3 that is caused by how many players “farm” D2.

Endless Baal runs has always been D2’s endgame since LoD. It is what it is.

I think D3 is a lot more enjoyable in its own ways than D2, but in the end both are Bash Your Head Against A Wall grind to get that min-max perfect gear. At least in D3 there’s slight variation in the different spawns in grifts.

That being said, I’d rather bash my face against a wall in D2 than in D3.

You are right in that Blizzard will not be updating D2/D2:LoD. However, for D2R, I would not be so sure. The head of the entire diablo franchise on twitter indicated that more changes are on the horizon for D2R.

I disagree, I found D3 boring. To easy to get what I want and no need for others. I have been first page on the leader boards several times and its just a joke. And Repetitive runs is a complaint? D3 isn’t much different. Run GR’s same thing run kill pick up loot level gems rinse repeat.

Im not going to give you crap though. This game would be a lot more fun if they fixed the lobby system that way you could join games and have some fun with randoms. I still prefer to make friends in discords and run with a dedicated group. Or you could join an active guild and run cows and chaos/baal runs with them. Im sure lots are out there.

not your game isnt it. looks like^^ and no. d3 is NOT better. its different.
and rift runs arent repetitiv …good joke. d3 is the casual version. much more casual…:stuck_out_tongue:

That difference is huge actually. One concept dilutes the feeling of awe when looting a certain item whereas the other keeps it fresh. Can you guess which one does what? In D3 I’ve had ancients roll up to 98% perfection, and when I finally found a primal version it barely put a smile on my face. By contrast, when I looted a Deaths Fathom with 30 to cold a month ago I felt a sensation I haven’t felt in years (if ever actually) from D3.

After your first godly runeword D3 is dead… D2 has a Need-to-Find build in that is insatiable to the initiated…

Okay, I am not even …lol

My take is different. In D3, getting ancients (especially that facilitate specific builds) still makes me happy. For me, primals tend to be a mixed bag due to higher expectations and being annoyed by the RNG of which affixes rolled.

At least for me that is not true.

Both games are essentially slot machines. I think it boils down to the psychology of slot machines. Does one prefer more “wims” for less reward or less “wins” with more reward? Some prefer the former, while some the latter.

yea I’ve read that but I have a hard time believing the changes would be towards gameplay or things like adding new items. even skins/transmog is sorta doubtful. I could see more QoL changes coming for things such as filters/categories for public games.

but for people who think new items/areas are coming, what happens when you hit “G” when you have a new unique item equipped or are in a new area? is it just blank because there was no legacy variant…?
