As an offline player it is a little annoying for content to be locked behind a specific kind of multiplayer mode. But if it’s only a few months it’s not the end of the world. I’m just glad they added all the existing online/ladder-only content into offline for D2R, that’s been awesome. Especially since we don’t have access to the mods we used in LOD to achieve the same result.
If waiting a few months for new runewords (which, let’s be real, I don’t have the runes for anyway, at least for the good ones) is the compromise, I’m okay with that. It’s not ideal but it’s tolerable.
maybe the swings are needed, there is a new breed of gamer’s, maybe they been around forever. If you look at the general section of forums there are more topics regarding fix the game to my specifications because I am a player with x amount of time to play because I have a Job/life/family/school what ever. So give me better drop rates/rune drops, Give me /player command, give me this give me that, or Im gonna quit/fill up the forums with posts, crying left and right. Its almost like any new game that comes out developers need to consider well what about that Mom or dad who can only play 1 hour a week lets design this game around them and make it super easy.
Classic Diablo 2 was grindy and RNG sucked, but we played it anyways, not many people complained about it 20years ago, If you didnt like a game you accepted it an moved on. Now if you dont like a game the way it was designed OMG I’m going to write a letter on forums/yelp/reddit/google reviews until those developers fix the video game to my lifestyle etc…

What do you consider prior to the ladder delay? There was blue post patch notes on the old forum before beta saying that the og LO-RW would no longer be LO.
In the case here, it was not needed. OP had an issue that many in the community echoed. When the original stuff was ungated, that may have been the requirement he wanted in order to make the purchase of D2R, thus he did. If they just swung back around and did the same thing again as the issue that they solved, it would be a legitimate complaint. Even those that didn’t want the content ungated in non-ladder, had stated that it would be a mistake to add new ladder only content again, such as Geezer.
As for people having issues with game directions in terms of old school vs new school, it’s always been a thing, with every new game in a franchise being split between people upset with evolution or regression to previous mechanic iterations. RPGs as a whole really suffer from this, especially the jrpg genre.

He is literally crying that he is being gatekept from things he has clear access to. No where ever did blizzard even hint that non ladder would always have all of the new content immediately. Acting like he is a victim of this attempt to keep things from him. Like blizzard is thinking take that stupid non ladder player. Now you can never have these extremely average rune words. His complaint was beyond unfounded and deserved to be called out as such.
Did they announce this? That once the ladder is over, the ladder-only runewords will be available on non-ladder/single player?
If that’s the case, I have no issues with ladder-only runewords.
For those that need confirmation. I copied at the time they start talking about the ladder to non ladder.

Had u done 5 minutes of research u would have found out. These ladder only RW will come to non ladder at the end of of ladder. So no ur not getting locked out of content.
But players still want to experience new content. New content that isn’t assessible without restarting and developing another 600 hours…
No. New content ie the runewords, will be dripped into ladder first. Non ladder will get the new content after season ends, and so on. There will be an influx of new content flowing between all modes until devs run out of new runewords to add. If you want first whack at them, you play ladder. If you’d rather wait, they will come to non ladder post season as creatable, thus not locking out players that may be a rune or base behind not found during ladder.
All game modes will be receiving the new balancing as well, so there are plenty of new things to play with while you wait for the first delayed drop of runewords.
It ended, we have now S2 and still not S1 in non ladder.
This game is a scam.
Non Ladder chars are the biggest sellpoint, because Mods like PD2 can’t handle non laddder.
