Ladder resets should be shorter than 4 months. After the first few weeks the game dies down drastically. Like Sekscalibure said, there is nothing to do end game that we can’t do in non-ladder. New runewords are great for the ladder start and leveling process, but end game is what will keep players coming back for more. If there was some kind of ladder exclusive benefit to playing, I would consider playing a longer season, but as it stand, there is not much to do.
I feel both is needed. More early-mid game runewords that you can complete during normal or nightmare to be on par or better enough to replace the Stealth, Lore, Ancients Pledge type meta.
Uniques, all levels need a full overhaul, and I feel their drop rates should be increased in Normal and Nightmare. Nothing better than dropping a lower unique or set during a playthrough. There is zero point in finding it come Hell because by then you already have passed the need for Sigons or most mid level uniques or sets unless you are collecting them for a future character.
I also feel that gear needs a little refresher in the early and mid game. But rather than adding new runewords, I want them to add socketing recipes for magic and rare items. I feel like that would increase the amount of useful gear by a lot. If they add 5 runewords, that’s 5 new items we get to play with. If they allow us easier socketing, that’s an infinite amount of new items to play with.
some people have this strange belief that “the economy” of diablo 2 somehow matters. and if they can’t sell their items for maximum amount of FG the game isn’t worth playing…
you wonder if they actually want to play the game or not…
Uh yeah, it matters to alot of players, for some, that is their end game. Magic Finding and making FG bank and gaining wealth in the most GG items you can find year after year.
I disagree. Plague for an assassin opens up cheap options for trapsin/martial arts builds that would otherwise require claws that are more rare than your average unicorn. That doesn’t always make plague better, since the most ideal trap claw will be a greater/runic talon with 2os and 40ias suffix, requiring -2- ias for the last break point and leaving those sockets open for anything needed.
Flickering flame is similarly useful for fire Druids, and mist for elemental bowazons or mercs for conviction auras. They don’t change the meta of the game by being the new enigma, but that’s okay. They have niche uses and in those situations they shine brightly.
I also agree, some uniques should get some balance upgrades to become actually useful.
ya and that was NEVER the point of diablo 2… you don’t need FG to play… how fast people are done with ladder just shows how you don’t really need it…
i myself use JSP, but i don’t really care what stuff is worth, i play diablo 2 because i love diablo 2. if prices tank i still play because i’m enjoying the game. people with too much FG are such a waste… they don’t even use it all, it just sits there doing jack… you can’t tell me that’s the “proper way” to play ANY video game… goodness…
Killing Monsters, For Loot, to Acquire wealth… Yeah doesnt sound like one of the points of D2 at all LOL.
Who has ever said that? I said it was a form of end game and enjoyment (see the previous part about monsters, item loot ,wealth) Its not the only platform to aid with this, it just happens to be the most popular, and longest running…
Its one of the ways, I made that clear. Just because it isnt top on your ways, doesnt mean jack all. Respect what other people enjoy about the game, and play it how you want.
Fact is a proper trading platform, with a proper and simple currency, would help with Ladder and NL and keep more players engaged longer.
Players that don’t use it start from scratch, players that do use it already have loot trade value and can buy whatever they want without having to find items in the new ladder.
Obviously they will find items but they have all the advantages of currency from previous seasons/years of gameplay
