You are buying someone else to play in game with you that feeds you gear. That is distinct from someone buying gear directly from a website/another player. The player can not control what items are provided since that is dependent on RNG.
In D3, I can not go to a black market website and buy a puzzle ring. Theoretically, one could farm with another for an indeterminant amount of time until that a puzzle ring drops but that is different than directly buying a puzzle ring.
You can not buy gear without giving another user your password to control your account or having them in game with you. Even then, one can not buy a specific item but a chance at that item.

As that post says, it is gear share. I can not buy a puzzle ring. I have a chance that a puzzle ring might be shared if a puzzle ring dropped while playing together.

Your post highlights the fact that one can not buy gear directly. Why do you think the offer is to carry/gear share? It is because one can not buy an item and sell it on it some black market website.
You can not and are not buying the ancient puzzle ring. You are being carried when someone else uses the puzzle ring that they have. You do not receive the puzzle ring.
Do you understand it is not like D2R? In D2R with free trade, one can go to a website and purchase item x for price y. In D3 with restricted trade, that does not occur (short of buying a geared account or having someone else play your account which requires giving them your password). It is things like being carried for gear or to achieve some objective.
That is the key point. In D3 unlike D2R, one can not go to a black market website and purchase an item that is immediately provided in game. One can not directly buy a specific item.
