There is a proximity range to bonus mf and exp. Its like. if you are withing 500 yards (examplet) you get 2x but further than that you only get 1.5x kind of thing.
I noticed this really only started to really explode after 1.09. When people confirmed that more players = higher chance of high runes. It used to be like that one guy who wouldn’t join party, now it’s like half the games and half the people in the games.
Few questions :
Why would you need ALL players with you when you do the baal run?
You get more exp when there are less players around which is the point of public baal runs.
Are you upset when someone joins a quest game where they are farming outside of the act listed for questing? Remaking the game takes less than a minute. This has been going on in D2 for ages though as players spend more time end game MFing than they do leveling/questing.
When players sometimes stop their MF to help rush players in questing games does that also bother you?
Baal runs aren’t very good use of time for players without controllers which are essentially the modern loot pickits.
that’s all fun until you meet a lvl 98. pew pew pew
+1 for adding players command to bnet games (I think it’d be fine even if only allowed in private games with 1 players)
+1 for preventing players from accessing areas in the game beyond the quest progress of the host if the host did a questing game
+1 for preventing pvp if so desired
+1 for the games list to not be so trash - if you could pick a category (baal runs, split mfing, questing, whatever) or type more than 5 letters or actually sort or search that would be amazing

I personally think there are better ways to solve the issue that ‘more players = more loot’ causes in public bnet games, but adding the players command is the easiest and most keeping with the original experience.
The worst of people will abuse anything they can to be toxic so it the game design has to solve it. It’d be nice if the community could be trusted but they can’t.
Speaking of the ques, players 8 would help with that issue as well. Being able to spend more time clearing games on players 8 would equal less server stress. Seems like a win, win, win idea right?
Maybe add that to non ladder after they fix the server issues.
I’m enjoying private games with my other account. 89 cold sorc, 88 hdin. I join public games only for trade and leveling other classes.
You can add level restrictions when creating a game. You already have the tools to prevent this from happening.
This is a non-issue.
Agree with everything.
Having a specific game set like Questing, Baal runs, Split MFing and Cows would be amazing and probably lower the server load.
Like create a game for Hell Cows with the cows option enabled. Now only Act 1 is enabled. Would prevent the botters/MFers from using other Acts in the game that was created.
Players 8 or maybe even have it tiered to players 20 for individual/private games.
After reading this thread, most against are the doom and gloom crowd. Blizzard already tested the #nochanges crowd and were completely wrong on it. Hopefully there is a better solution for this.
Loooooool. Welcome to the genuine Diablo 2 experience! Enjoy your stay, and thanks for flying with Air Chaos Runs. Literally complaining about how the game has always been played.
Those of us that played since inception have always hijacked games or created bait games to use higher player counts to our advantage.
So what you are saying is that you are part of the problem?
Uh… Yeah, I think that was the general idea I was trying to convey. Not sure if it’s a problem but yes, I contribute to this stigma you guys are concerned about.
This is toxic? This harms anyone how? The people that actually end up doing baal are also getting more exp and drops by you not being there. In every baal run i’ve ever been in, no one gives a crap if anyone is late to the party or doesn’t show up- that just means its that much eaiser to spam click the ground where Baal dies and get the loot.
Meanwhile, you get to level faster or get better drops or whatever, wherever you are. Doesn’t everybody win here?
They feel this is an issue because of several factors;
1: Creates more difficulty
2: Makes it more frustrating finding someone to cooperate with
3: People not contributing to the difficulty they create by joining their games and not participating in the content they’re running
4: Clearing content that would otherwise be the content they created their game for (surprise reality check for them: that’s what private games are for, otherwise you run the risk of this happening)
All of these are valid concerns and none of them warrant change. It’s natural player behavior to use the most effective means to do something you would otherwise do in a private game.
Using the game’s mechanics to their fullest effect, this is how you do it. :>
7 ppl doing baal are not going to notice much of a difficulty change if 1 person is off doing something else. Hell, people do this all the time when someone inevitably goes afk and they end up missing the baal kill.
Yeah I know, but they’re going to leverage any and all reasons to get the way they want. It’s the staple of these forums.
I still see no counter argument than, this is how it is and shouldn’t be changed…
How it has always been is not a counter argument.
Keep feeding this thread should gain more traction.
I can’t believe anyone is actually arguing against this change. Fascinating
Edit: wrong thread.
In the case of players X, it should be made available for console. But we don’t need it outside of singleplayer. Certainly not because of “toxic” people. The stuff the OP talks about, it just really isn’t a problem, and in reality, everyone benefits.
