How sad that Activision gave in already to the new players that are coming in and changing the game thats been this way for years. So what you’re saying is that your loyal fans who like how the game is mean nothing and the fans who will leave this game in a few weeks or months are gonna get changes made to it!? Way to go… id say blizzard is at fault, but lets be honest they havent had anything to really do with a game in a very long time
A lot of us aren’t new players. Lots of us have played D2 for many years and want to see it evolve. They should give you purists a separate game mode though.
What have they changed that upsets your purist worldview so damn much?
Don’t fret! The builds that you know and love are still there. They’re simply opening up more build choices.
Hydra sorc… Mmmm.
Honestly it doesn’t sound like they are giving in so much as listening to the improvements the ‘purists’ are bringing up.
Skelly Mages being viable, Golems working, making thorns/IM viable again. SpearZons may be a thing, bowzons doing damage in hell? MA Sins!!!
All sounds good.
At the risk of triggering the boiling frog / “First they came for the X” argument… The announced changes are minor balance things that could 100% have been a 1.15 patch ten years ago. They’re nothing to write home about.
I’ll level with you : I absolutely want the devs to talk about their stance on a D2R vs. LoD character creation checkbox, same as there is for LoD vs. Classic. I think that would quell 99% of the debate: everyone would have the best of both worlds, the same way Classic can currently be played without LoD’s changes. Blizzard North back in 2001 had the tech do do it and recognized it was a good feature. Vicarious in 2021 can do it again.
If the devs say yes, great. If the devs say no, great too! What I don’t want is get strung along in ceaseless debate on what is or isn’t too much change.
Veteran player here, sc and hc. I welcome the changes.
they literally said before this was even brought up they wernt going to be making changes that it was just supposed to be a visual remaster. Why does it make me a purist if i want the game i know and love to stay how it is?
They also gave interviews where they said they were open to changes based on what the community wanted.
Minor changes with this company have never not once been actually minor, and 2 patches in what a month? i played this when it was new and patches were not this often at all they are gonna end up changing it like they do to WoW and stuff, and theyll run the last real game they have into the ground. was fun while it lasted
I believe the first part is the usage being applied.
If youre complaining about a 20 year old game getting patched up, you’re making up being upset for the sake of it.
They saying purists are minority. And they doing what they stated they will do and announced. Purist just been in denial. There is still d2 classic.
Not sure how I feel about the update. Makes me worried for sure. I’d prefer to hear about currency tab and more stash tabs or dclone changes before new runewords stuff.
You’ve had over a decade to play this exact version of the game. Get over it.
I’m excited. I would have done one ladder season without changes but excited I don’t even have to do that to get some.
But this isnt a new game, why dont they just go harder into finally finishing D4 i mean its only been in the making for almost 10 years.
I want to see teleport gone
its not even tradition or anything, this isnt a new game, its an old game with a face lift. They tried the same this with Warcraft 3… and that worked out so well for them… all im saying
That’s exactly why at some point I would like a gamemode LoD vs. D2R checkbox. I recognize the desires of people who want change for the sake of novelty. Let them have it! But I just don’t trust 2021 Blizzard’s ability to go in the direction of the game i like (no offense, devs!).
So, considering back in september I paid 50+ bucks for LoD with fancy graphics… Can I just get a checkbox to preserve that, like Blizzard North was kind enough to give to Classic folks back in the literal stone age of 2001?
A simple yay or nay for “Are you going to allow a gamemode character option to preserve the LoD experience, same as for Classic” is all I ask from the devs. I hope MrLlama or another interviewer asks that question, and I hope that they give a definitive answer. Then we know where to stand.
watching this company over the years, my faith is higher in Flint water than them, but if they do cool. If not then i guess i got 2 months of a good game.
