I have a Ryzen 7 5800x, 32gb RAM and an Asus RTX 3070. It’s hardware capable of running AAA games at 4k/60hz - however I am running this game at 1080p medium settings 60hz… It should be absolutely gobbling it up. I have no lag whatsoever it just crashes to desktop all the time for no apparent reason.
Sent in the dxdiag and msinfo files on my ticket and they looked through and confirmed the crashing is caused by bugs in the game. Nothing else I can try really besides waiting for more patches
4-6 hrs and no crashes, sometimes even 8 hours of straight gameplay and no crashes. They happen from time to time though but it is acceptable and fairly rare.
Well because it’s the idea behind a remaster, using today’s hardware to make the game look better. I see no problem with that.
Also, using 7 out of 8 GB of VRAM is also a good thing. It’s using as much as possible to improve performance, which is precisely why more VRAM is better. If game developers had to limit to 1.5 GB to remain compatible with older cards, it would be totally pointless to buy one with 8 GB or more. It’s just using what you have.
However, it should not have anything to do with crashes, and I also experience crashes from time to time. Not (yet) with the latest patch, but I suppose it’ll happen at some point.
glad i am not the only one currently i not even get into a game. i tried fixing option and nothing. i have only been able to play once since yesterday maybe 10-15. all other game crashes.
Gotta disagree here. This game is using a disproportionate amount of resources period. For a 20 year old game, a 2d game, with settings turned DOWN, using 7 gigs of VRAM is overkill and atrocious. There is no way this game should be using this much power, generating this much heat, and this game needs optimized ASAP…
My RAM never spikes, my CPU has multiple cores, and can see two cores spike almost to 100% during crashes. It is some sort of VRAM leak or whatever. My GPU stays consistent throughout as well.
Nothing special, but over the minimums, and I’m playing offline on Medium / Low settings. I’ve tried a handful of ideas that pop up on these forums with no luck - underclocking, fps cap, repair/reinstall, etc. … I’m just hoping to play the game eventually, really.
Mine crashes every hour. Tried everything. I’m on my second ticket right now. It’s funny because after it crashes you start it right back up and it will last another hour. I would happily buy a new pc to play diablo except apparently people on new PC’s are crashing too. Not guaranteed to fix my problem.
I would expect it to take a lot longer than 10 minutes to have a memory leak issue on that setup for sure. It’s just interesting that some people have no problems and others can’t get the game to run properly…I would think the bugs are compatibility issues with some hardware setups but there’s so much inconsistency with this stuff.
I do know New World has or had problems with the 30xx series of cards due to some firmware issue or something. I wonder if that’s what’s going on here…
For me, it turned out to be something pretty simple causing the excessive crashing. GPU Tweak (Asus GPU overclocking software), specifically the on-screen display showing temps and fan speeds etc.
Disabling the OSP (but still able to run the program in the background) stopped it from crashing to desktop literally every ~10 minutes when running the game, so for whatever reason there’s a compatibility issue with that on D2R. The game does still crash on a regular basis so it’s not completely fixed, but it crashes much less frequently now (will run for several hours) which will just be down to the bugs in the game I was told about before.
This game is totally broken for me. It won’t even get past the intro screen to let me see my characters. Before that, if I tried to take a portal or use a waypoint, it crashed, and I lost my progress. This is beyond ridiculous.
