I know that the journal is randomly in one of the 4 sections, but every time I clear this place, it’s always in the last section that I look in.

My luck is similar at grocery store checkouts. I am always behind the one person that has an item with no price, needs a dented can replaced, was overcharged last visit and wants a refund, and is paying with an out of state third party check with an expired driver’s license.

As soon as I saw the thread title I knew exactly what this would be about. This happened to me in Normal, and now I’m about to hit it again at Nightmare. Let’s see what happens!

While this hasn’t been happening to me, I always do a full clear of the Arcane Sanctuary when I am there.

Same, unless its the weird teleport pad one, all is fine and well till its the only pad going that way blocked by a chain gang line of goatmen with a small army of meteor-boys dropping bombs on the arch way forcing you to abandon that path and go another way
For me it’s been rough 25% chance. Not sure of exact figure.
The way the probability works is that the first section you check out has a 25% chance to be the correct one. The second one has a 33.33% chance to be the correct one, followed by 50% and then 100%. SOMEHOW, it’s always the last one I check.

Because the first one you check has a 75% chance of being wrong, the second one has a 67% chance of being wrong, the third one has a 50% chance of being wrong, and the last one has a 0% chance of being wrong.
OK as it turns out I had just reached the AS last night before logging off. Once again, the journal was in the fourth arm of the AS. Maybe Commando and I just have Amazon luck.
Nope, I hit it first time in NM & Hell. Was the last one in normal though.

Isnt it just bad luck? I mean the map is fully loaded once you take the wp right? There are times ill nail the next floor to a place real quick consistently, but then for a bit, it’ll seem like i cannot find the exit.
I thought too the first Normal and Nightmare, but Hell found at the first path.
Then a second char found the second path in Normal. It was bad luck.
everyone on d2r needs to go back to school and learn about statistics and RNG. seems like everyone who thinks they hit the jackpot thinks everything is in their favor and when it is the other way around they think the game is conspiring against them…
reminds me of when apple changed how shuffle works when too many people complained the same song would sometimes play again…folks that is how true random chance works.

You are just unlucky, I usually get mine in the first or second try. Ive had to do 8 Sanctuary’s so far. Im on my 9th today.
I always go top then right, and I never have to abandon a pathway because I keep max res and great offense with lots of mf on.
