Well, it does suck that people use 3rd party sites to do trades, because it’s impossible to find stuff. All it has done is encouraged bots to farm.
Well, you can do that in DII. You just buy all your items from a 3rd party site. I think there is a serious lack of gear between junk and elite. The transition isn’t smooth at all.
Your perception of drop rates probably depends on how you play the game. Ladder players I am sure would appreciate higher drop rates. Online players, due to trading, probably also want higher drop rates but maybe not as high as ladder players. Offline players, like myself, probably prefer drop rates to remain the same since chasing items is our end game.
