Isn’t that what all games are though? A game is simply an activity to pass time more quickly, usually with the purpose of alleviating boredom.
No matter what the drop rates are, part of the community is going to be disappointed… If the drop rates are increased, the game becomes shorter for everyone. If they start bowing to the demands of the weekend gamers who play for 1-2 hours a week, then everyone else who has more time will have long completed the game before the weekenders finish and will quickly move on to something else, perhaps permanently.
I’m still working on my grail… I’d hate for the drop rates to be bumped, then I suddenly find the few items I’ve never found in a short time frame. In a way, I’d feel cheated.
Why should the absolute best items in the game be easy to find? There are hundreds of other items in the game that can be used to beat the hardest difficulty. The reason people view 99% of the items as trash is because the very best items are easily obtainable right now.
The solution isn’t to buff drops rates, if anything they need to be nerfed.
You have a point if you are comparing games in this era.
If you compare to games 20yrs ago, than it is a challenge and in fact very challenging.
Cause 20yrs ago game info/knowledge cant be easily obtain online as compare to now.
I havent seen anyone offer rationale other than I want better items faster, give me the lootz while completely ignoring the opposite effect increasing drop rates has. its always a woe is me i cant find anything good
They should not be easy to find. I said adjust the drop rate a smidgen. If an item SSF takes on average 200 hours, having it change to 190 hours does not make the game easy.
Also, I would be careful about making the argument that you can beat the game without the best items. You can beat the hardest parts of this game naked, too. As such, why be stingy with items or alternatively why have items at all?
Then you have not been reading comprehensively. The rationale has been given in other threads.
ive seen no rationale other than what I said and you are choosing to deflect as per usual. you want loots faster, good for you. thats not a reason why the game should be changed especially given the less time for loot to be found means the less time people will likely play long term
Hello!
How about making magic find work in a group, and stack with the group? I’ve made that suggestion.
I’ve also suggested that cube recipes of upgrading rares and converting set items with some kind of material, could even be runes.
I still want to go thru the effort of playing the game to find the loot. I just want to be able to find it within a reasonable time frame.
those are all massive buffs. d2 isnt meant to be GG items in what you consider a reasonable time. the game is very beatable without gg gear, but if you want it, then be ready to play… a lot. thats literally the core of the game. if you couldnt clear the game without perfect gear id be more open to hearing this but thats just not the case.
what is your basis that mine is the minority? people bought the game knowing EXACTLY how the drops rates work. you are the minority, just louder. there is no reason for people to post threads - i think everything is great.
none of that has to do with drop rates. people like you that played a lot in 5 months (or claim to) and now want to stop due to drop rates would have stopped after 2 months if you had you 6/6/4 rolls and everything you wanted.
Sure it does. Obviously I cannot speak to a million people. But I can speak to as many as I can. Its pretty clear, “not being able to find what I want” is a big reason. The average player doesn’t want to purchase their gear from a website, nor use trade. Blame them for being foolish if you wish.
that just isnt the majority of players. i stopped because i killed what i wanted and didnt want to farm anymore for non ladder, i imagine a lot feel the same. people play until they get to the level of gear they want. if people rage quit because they cant find what they want they are playing the wrong game and like ive already said they likely played LONGER because of the drop rates compared to increased rates.
The average player absolutely trades and to me is the most fun part of the game. If you dont want to trade or like drop rates like this why on earth are those people buying a game that has been clearly established for 20 years on both of these
