Stop Changing This Masterpiece

They should keep changing this game.

However, they should also add a “Original” realm, that preserves D2R LoD as it was when it released.

That would be better for sure. Also, make TZs available while going through the campaign to add some variation to the process.

Why you focused on “preserved”?? It is “the same” which is important. It doesnt say “improved”, or “similar”.

The game is there. U dont need to use sunder charms. U can even change the graphics back to the old one. Only the purist brain preventing u to see that the game is there. Adding mustard to a pizza doesnt make it a hot a dog. Its just adding another topping.

It was clear that d2r was going to be a liveservice game and that they would add things. It was very clear in interviews. So they doing exactly what they said and what u should expect.

Which part of “the same” you didnt get?

Please provide a link.

I have provided quotes and links pre-launch indicating changes wsre possible. For loot changes, they said it had been discussed but was not happening at launch if ever. If ever introduced, optional loot allocation system would be set at game creation.

P.S. On the Blizzard D2R purchase page, how does it desvribe D2R?

Is it “New experience, Classic gameplay”?

Many did for the fame of D2, how long they will be playing determines the success of D2r from a gaming standspoint, not the initial sales as most were simply fans of Diablo 2 or the Diablo franchise as a whole.

Global pandemic did not harm all types of industry equally, in fact many things associated with things to do at home did better financially.
For example the number of active users on steam has grown during the pandemic, even breaking their record of most active monthly users during 2021.
Could be many reasons for players leaving Blizzard, but the pandemic is not to blame for that one.

Stand alone I think your correct, though I have no idea whether it will hold over time after accounting for inflation and of course the amount of possible players worldwide now compared to back then, a lot higher percentage of the people is able to play D:I than was optional back then.
For the real comparison however you need to wait and see whether the revenues of D:I stay high over the coming years at this moment the revenue of D:I isn’t as high as that of D2 after inflation, but it’s only been around for 3,5 months it might surpass D2.
However D:I also brings more backlash than D2 did, D2’s image was positive which helps with later sales, D:I not so much as it seems.

That is one thing I fully agree on, but it might also hurt the company in years to come (although maybe they simply do the squeeze and hand the broken toy to Microsoft afterwards).

Neither.

There is also this gem:

“or enjoy the original Diablo II, old-school style—at the press of a button with the legacy toggle”

Seems if I switch to legacy view Sunder charms will stop working, but WW and WSG will work  .

Edit: If i try to paste link normally, on preview it shows “remastered and upgraded” which is nowhere on page  .

The game is the same. Again u add mustard to a pizza and it becomes a hotdog? U dad put on his santa suit and he suddenly not your dad anymore but actually santa? Its normal for kids at the age around 1 to have that kind of delusion.

Let me ask u, if u cover your eyes with your hands so that u cant see does that mean the that world disappeared?

The question is why a adult person doesnt understand this.

I think this comes from your misunderstanding of “optional”. Yeah, putting mustard on a pizza doesn’t make it a hotdog, but if someone puts mustard on your pizza, and you scrape it off, you’re still going to taste the mustard.

This affects the meta, largely the market. More items in circulation deplete the value of other items. Skills being changed mean you can’t use those skills the way they were before, etc.

This also affects the race for the ladder. While not caring too much about this, personally, some people who choose not to use TZs are at a massive disadvantage leveling-wise, and thus not able to compete properly.

I said the D2R purchase page. See the Blizzard shop.

Oh when you proceed to shop from the main page it says that indeed with precise description what it means at that:

"#### New Experience, Classic Gameplay

Enjoy the previously 2D world of Sanctuary recreated with 3D visuals and high definition sounds all the way up to glorious 4K (2160p) and 7.1 surround with remastered and re-recorded sounds to take advantage of PC capabilities. See how far Diablo II has evolved with the legacy toggle, for a before-and-after real-time comparison with the classic game with added support for modern screen resolutions and surround sound."

Why do you ask?

Well to keep up with tone of your post, lest use your pizza analogy. So you ordered Hawaiian and instead of adding pineapple I (forgive robustness, but it seems comparable with the product I bought) sh…t all over it. It is still a pizza as you ordered and even improved.

The question is why an adult (or anyone really) cant understand this is wrong?

You’re not excited about teleport charms, map reveal charms, and 200% experience charms?

What kind of TOXIC “fan” are you?!

Play the original game… it won’t ever change. If you don’t like what they are doing to d2r, you absolutely have an option that doesn’t require whining on the forums that the game that withstood the test of time (and a billion bots) has changed… that isnt true… that game still exists and you can join a billion bots who play it any time you want.

OR…hear me out…maye…just MAYBE…the company could not tell us theyre making 1 thing, sell it to us, then change what they said it was going to be like they misled people into believing they wouldn’t do.

Yes, at the ripe old age of mid 30’s to early 40’s, we’ll all be dead soon.

Have you seen the current generation? They won’t even get a damn job. when their parents die they won’t have money for Blizzards cash grabs.

No if you add mustard to a pizza it become a piece of trash.

Just like D2R.

Bad skill design is not that reason tho and maby other things worth improving.

I’d still argue that “bad” skill design was much of the reason it stuck around. All of my fun came from collecting GG gear to push bad skills over that edge of viability and making them work.

I wasn’t looking for another homogenized experience where every build can do everything. They already did that with WoW. The appeal of something like Classic WoW to me was that it WASN’T balanced. Same reason I liked earlier versions of D&D but can’t stand 5th edition.

The skill design worked much like a difficulty setting in most games. You could start with easier builds and move into more niche ones that required certain play styles to succeed with.

In one patch they managed to both make the early games easier, and niche builds less interesting. While completely changing the gameplay loop.

I’ve never cared for ladders or seasonal play, which is a huge part of why I wasn’t very interested in mods. I was looking for a more long term experience where meta viability due to being in a rush wasn’t the focus. They’ve doubled down on adding new crap, where as I was looking for stability.
