STAFF READ THIS PLEASE: Important problem with 2.4 release patch (cube recipes)

EDIT: if you like this post, not only like it, also reply it, or will not have visibility and blizzard won’t listen us

Every day, until first day of patch release, the patch notes officially said the new horadric cube recipes for upgrade set items where for non ladder. Even a few hours ago, when patch was already released, no text specifying that these recipes are ladder only was present on the official patch notes.

Hundreds of us prepared our sets and runes to upgrade them. And yesterday at night all of us tried and wasn’t possible.

Now, you blizzard, have added this line this morning to the patch notes:

New Horadric Cube recipes are ladder exclusive.

That line was not present a few hours ago even with patch released.

Solve this situation please! you make all of us to prepare our sets and our runes to do it, and now, after patch released, you changed that!

Please, solve this, enable them for non ladder. At least enable the “normal quality set items” like now with the “normal quality unique items” recipe to upgrade it!

While I don’t care and it doesn’t affect me (I have no problem waiting), you have my utmost support on fighting the good fight. Do the right thing and make it so, Blizzard.

Gating cube recipes is taking it a bit far IMO.

The ladder “climb”? If you like that sort of punishment, fine…
Ladder only runewords? Fine…
Upgrading the base item of some low to mediocre set gear that will probably be forgotten about once they reach high levels and find something better? NOPE NOPE NOPE LADDER ONLY FEATURE… Kind of silly.

The only previously ladder gated recipes were rune upgrades beyond Dol, and that was for closed bnet non ladder only, singleplayer and open bnet could still use them. And also the exceptional to elite unique base upgrade recipes.

I think allowing the normal → exceptional set upgrade recipes in non-ladder would fall in line with the current unique upgrade recipe restrictions that are in the original game.

Very disappointing. Stop with the gated content, it’s fkn annoying.

There’s no reasons to gate set item upgrades, there’s nothing special about it, only a handful of them are worth upgrading if not doing it for fun and it should’ve been implemented 15+ years ago as a transmute available to everyone.

The only things that irritates me on this as that the cube recipes were never mentioned prior to be ladder only, only the runewords. Also, changing the patch notes to add that they were after initial posting. As long as they keep it in offline, not too worried, but this have been fully apparent in ptr

Indeed, I was so looking forward to upgrading Death’s Guard so it would have more than 4 extra potion slots.

On another note: Set Items should be worthwhile and unique. Why gimp an otherwise awesome set item by limiting it to only 4 extra potion slots? Why do you have to sacrifice so many things to wear set items? Why do some set items have such high ST and DX or level requirements when they are not viable at those levels… Hopping off of soap box now… Lol
OP, thanks for starting this thread!

Edit: When I say I was looking forward to upgrading set items it was outside of Ladder. Why? Because I already have 20 character slots in use online and do not have room to play ladder at this time.

Some of these people really need a little walk around the neighborhood and a breather.

I take breathers… Lol
But, I’m retired so I do play a lot. Probably a lot more than I should, but what else am I gonna do? D2:R is my escape from the real world problems we face these days.
Happy Gaming!

I don’t really like this edition to the game. It just seems like more busy work to min max. Eventually things will be balanced around it to just add an extra step.

This definitely seems like a D3 type decision. Liked it’s just an additional step to give the illusion of progress.

the thing is that they make us wasting our time and effort… they must solve this

I agree that this update was not documented well. Considering that the update was primarily to tie off a loose end with cube upgrades left by previous patches. The update should align with the current state of other cube upgrades.

This implementation of the set upgrades is both confusing and frustrating for players as it stands. Please dev team help make the set upgrades consistent to alleviate this issue.

First off:

THere were many ladder exclusive cube recipies (or at least exclusive to certain play modes) in LoD, so this isn’t anything new.

Second:

These recipes will likely become available everywhere at the same time current ladder runewords do, assuming that is still happening.

ah, ye olde bait-and-switch…

“Bravo”, Blizzard!! “BRAVO!!!” xDD

OP, also don’t forget that they STILL haven’t fixed cube ident! :open_mouth:

The intent though, was to promote item diversity and increase itemisation choices. This delays that intent for ages for anyone but ladder… which is stupid

thanks for the information guys… i thought i was going crazy lol. blizzard dont make us until ladder start for this feature and i hope you wont stuff it up by making it for one season only!

blizzard, solve this

I never understand why Blizzard would even incentivize ladder and don’t let people enjoy both new runewords and h. c. recipes at their single player games?! Please solve this Blizz
