weapons primarily, but yeah sometimes defence matters. also. Deaths sash is an exelent belt option, that is never used because of it’s 2 row belt slot. making that a 4 row will mean it’s usability (with the gloves too at 30% ias) would change dramatically. it will see play in builds

this was either scummy or very poor communication & execution as this was something everyone except those with the best gear were excited for, yes especially non-ladder ppl wanting to actually enjoy set items in a new way when making new characters (NOT in ladder where their wealth and earned gear over last 8 months does not carry over - yes ppl would like to do this so more +20 more character slots pls and the majority WILL shut up, including myself) and for it to be stealth changed after patch update…they dont dare make a post publicizing their change in tactics or goof in communication as it would upset a LOT of ppl that were looking forward to it
new runewords & cube recipes are updates to the base game and belong in the base game modes, Ladder is for racing-competition/economy reset - not for everyone. i never liked attaching things ppl wanted into mode they dont want as an excuse to make ppl play the mode they dont want…
yes make set item upgrades (& new runwords) part of non-ladder - there is no reason not to unless Blizz thinks ppl wont play ladder without it…and that tells you what u need to know about both ladder and Blizz’s perception on it
and just cause something has always been done (exceptionally poorly) doesnt mean it should continue to be done poorly (new runewords being ladder only) - let ppl in non ladder that have all their hard earned runes make the new runewords day 1! (Crazy i know) Let them enjoy what they have earned over months in new ways with the 1st new update in 10 years. (Crazy right?)
Re-hunting the same runes from scratch is a ladder reset thing, not a desired way to play diablo by the majority. and New Runewords and Cube Recipes are an UPDATE to the game (not a competition or economy reset incentive) so let ppl enjoy the updates to the base game…Day 1…so crazy right? cause this is how they’ve always done it? Never a good enough reason to keep doing it. It sucked back then and only ladder ppl stuck around as a result, and not a good enough reason to do it now
they are literally gutting their own community every time they say things like “New updates available to your current play mode (where all your runes and gear and wealth is)…several months later” - this kills interest for those several months, and ppl dont come back if they have to wait several months to enjoy new updates cause they either don’t have the time or most likely INCLINATION for economy reset or competition

Truthfully, the best way to advocate for a change is to @ PezRadar, Diablo and D2Resurrected on twitter. Forums on an obscure corner of the internet are fairly easy to ignore. Twitter brings many, many more eyeballs.

The game’s OWN forum (the PRIMARY place to give feedback and have discussions) is an obscure place on the internet the devs dont think to look at? what are you smoking?
id put a game’s info 1st on its personalized website & forum as the 1st place to look, then external platforms like twitter where discussions & info is always limited because of tweet limits and obvious fact that these are not mandatory platforms like a game’s personal website, then community run forums like reddit which have as many reddit andie’s that dont play the game as do…when ppl want to learn something about a game, they go the website 1st, not to twitter…
typing a tweet only hits those following the individuals and any attached hashtags that may be trending, typing in the forum as a Blue Post hits everyone that would think to come to the game’s website to check on updates…honestly some social media habits (like only tweeting or only redditing) have eroded the common sense of marketing enthusiasts because they think that what is “trending” is what is normal because it is visually more noisome to them in the moment, ignorant of the trends being set to spread different bits of info to different areas and end up with missing and mis-information from ppl who dont check ALL these areas simultaneously. So the community ends up relying on influencers to give them info because it can be a source of congregated info…
Blizzard has always been weird with its marketing trends (E-sports eccentric), community perceptions and value costs…
i mean they thought 20 character slots was the way to go and want to encourage players to play “together” online by jumping into a game, never interacting with any other player in any way, and go solo magic find away from everyone else before anyone else can (regardless of what the game is even for)…and call that playing together…because its always been that way…

I´m also for a free usage of the upgrading of sets. Already planned out some set bounded character builds (for start and midgame) what are now less effective.
Also just upgrading the belt´s for Arctic Set or Death Sash is already an argument.
So please Blizzard change this.

Good luck folks. Blizzards track record for updates is absolutely abysmal. Expect to wait another 6 months to get any update.
It’s interesting for me that new Ladder only RWs work in SP, but set upgrades don’t.

I agree with all the above. Content gating is a poor strategy to retain players.
Especially considering that personally I’m close to my 20 character limits, so I’m unlikely to even be able to try Ladder anyway even if I wanted to. As such, gating content is just counterproductive and will eventually drive me away from the game even faster since less content to try.

I just upgraded Arctic Armor in SP offline and it worked

I can´t equip it!!
Please don’t tell me you expected to wear an Arctic Armor upgraded to Ghost Armor and still wear it at lvl 2. There’s a rule when upgrading base items, it uses the lvl requirement of that new base item (lvl 22 in this case) and adds +5 (+7 if upgraded to Elite).
hahah no worries i´m aware of that. i just wear it in combination with the belt for the magic find bonus and the bow for the extra cold damage. damage output is not that bad but i guess around lvl 30 i have to get rid of it^^

nobody likes being forced to play ladder to get access to stuff. I hated that fact way back in OG d2 15+ years ago and still do hate it to this day. why do you think everyone was enjoying the ungated and ability to make OG Legacy Ladder only runewords like grief, spirit, infinity, faith, etc on Non Ladder as well as all the original "ladder only " uniques like griffons, etc ?
Ladder should only be for the jobless dudes who want to start fresh from ground zero or a leveling to 99 race. Not so much content gating/locking. You shouldnt be forced to play a different mode.
