I died killing baal, when i left to get body i spawned with a trident and not my monarch spirit and long sword spirit. I am so bummed, i was using those from my pally so that i could level my sorc. now both my chars suck
Ouch. Sorry to hear that. The death mechanic in D2, and D2R is pretty harsh if you are not familiar with it. It is easy to lose gear. What you experienced was probably not a bug. If you pick up other gear on your way to your body and die again it creates a second corpse. If you leave the game or DC it gives you the body with the highest gold value which may not be your body with your runewords and such.
OR, if you are very lucky you need to hit W and it is just hiding in the other tab or your inventory.

it didnt give me a body at all in town. when i spawned i had everything except my weapons
What happens if you hit W? That changes your weapon slot tab and is a common accident.
Also, if you had weapons that required other armor first for STR/DEX to hit your requirements, the weapons may have needed to be equipped manually after putting on the armor in the right order.

W has nothing, i didn’t have another set for this one yet, and i don’t think it was stats either bc i put exactly enough strength for the shield and plan to re-stat in the future
Unfortunately no matter why items go missing in D2, D2R, or D3, Blizz can’t restore them. There are no second by second logs or restoration tools like they have for WoW. Even in WoW that sort of thing is very limited.
That is why I was hoping you had the items in your second tab or bag 
Hopefully if it was death related you can sort out why and prevent it in the future.

Just happened to me. It is absolutely not supposed to do that. The body should be saved and it isn’t.
I’m done trying to defend this absolute dumpster of a product. Endless disconnects. Inadequate servers. Ques. Roll backs. Crap load times.
$40 for a 20 year old game that doesn’t run as well as the original?

Yeah… I also lost all of my stuff due to a bug on blizzard’s end.
Contacted them and after some messages they told me nupe to restoring anything that was deleted…
They won’t take responsibility.

Also… No refunds… They won’t give out any if you’ve even touched the game…
