PS5: disconnect your Network, start the game, enter your offline game, reconnect to your Network if you want. No more Blackscreens.
Im pretty sure What happen is, the timer from your queue, even if you press cancel runs in the Background, and as soon as your Queue timer hits 0, you get the Blackscreen, since you already in a game and he cant redirect you to your Character login screen. For me its bad coding. And in general, 6Gb+ for a queue code, seriously?

Thanks. I try this out tomorrow. I gave up on D2 for the rest of today. Hopefully it will work as I like to be online with my PS5 to use Spotify while I game. 
But if you are right, that means it is totally amateurhour at Blizzard at the moment… 
Well, i lost 76lvl sorceress because of this stupid black screen crash. I entered the game and canceled the online queue because i dont have payed ps+ and dont care for online playing the game. After few Andy runs i was surprised for second time today with black screen, but tried to exit blinded from the save and exit option. Surprised againe the console craped himself with something went wrong and now i like to pull my hair off hair by hair. At least now i know its blizzard fault and i dont need to blame the console. But its very anoing to suffer lost from something that i never gona use as the online queue. Blizzard, please fix your game.

I Just lost a lvl 63 Necro the same way. This sucks.

Yes, i play HC aswell, currently lvl87, but i was lucky and could exit out and was alive. I can play now, works fine, maybe they fixed it or my trick does work, atleast for Offline players… online i am not sure what cause the issue honestly.

By the way as there seemingly was none I created a thread about this in console bug discussion. I wager it’s important that you report your findings there: (Fixed?) 1.06 introduced sudden black loading screen during offline gameplay, HC characters killed
This worked for me as well , so thank you for that advice
however I have discovered I’ve somehow lost my Horadric Cube so now I’m going to have to find a fix for that.

NP, i will push this to to reach more ppl/offline gamers.
Is there QA for this game? What a joke this has been… There should be an option to go straight to offline play as default. At least it would solve this stupid issue.
