So I decided to just run with cosmetic mods online

You sure do post a lot without being a developer nor having ever worked at Blizzard.
Everyone of us already read the ToS and know how things work out.
OP is not getting banned for a cosmetic change.

  1. Don’t tell me I’m wrong because I am right.
  2. I’ve been using cosmetic changes for 2 years now, 0 banwaves.
  3. Asians are using them, banning EU/NA player for using a cosmetic change would be considered racist from Blizzard’s side.
  4. Read 1) again.

yah its obvious you are talking about your loot filter being “allowed” by blizzard, but just because its client side doesnt mean its not against the tos. and if you want to argue that you havent been banned yet, then why dont you stream your account running your loot filter and @blizzard and we’ll see how long it takes for you to buy a new copy of d2r. i dare you.

I mean this should be a no brain-er for anyone “unsure” if mods are bannable. If the game is taking place on a ladder, then nothing outside of a un-modded copy of the game should be used (unless it’s explicitly stated otherwise). End of story.

Rules are rules to commoners and mere tools to the elites

If you are an adult, you should understand exactly how the work of a lawyer is: finding loopholes of the rules to turn it into customer’s advantage. Being “intended” or not must be extremely clear in the wordings. If the wordings are not clear, loopholes exist to be legally exploited until fixes are applied.

Asian players using loot filter and cosmetics mods don’t give a single eff about such mentality of yours.

People like me and OP don’t effing care, really. As long as we think it doesn’t affect game balance, we will keep using it. Your opinion doesn’t matter. Only dev action does.

Or ultrawide monitors 21:9 and beyond. I’m sure those using 16:9 monitors will complain balance and such, but we don’t give a single flying eff.

Exactly, no single eff is given to other people’s thought.

End of story is that not a single asian has been banned for using loot filter and cosmetics mods.

Been using loot filter mod since D2R came out and will keep using it in season 3.

@OP interested to know where to get cosmetics in this game, PM pls

FFS it’s like talking to a toddler trying to outsmart mom that he didn’t eat the cookies despite a face full of crumbs.

Feel like you are the Hermione in Harry Potter universe who was extremely pedantic in the first few years of wizard schools, that’s it. Yes, “pedantic” is the right word to describe you.

Just an FYI, Mom and Dad aren’t fooled by these antics.

And no Asian players have been banned for using cosmetics mods or loot filters, just pointing out the truth. Unless you have evidence that shows otherwise.

Pedantic child who doesn’t understand adult world.

You live your way, we live our ways. Nobody is to tell others what’s right or wrong it the laws itself doesn’t explicitly say it.

Keep enjoying your own pedantic philosophy while we do our own things. We’re also not telling you what to do or think. It’s your freedom.

At least that is the honest take on the subject.

Yea I remember

It really depends on what you are looking for specifically. I haven’t used any new art assets, just renamed existing ones to replace some I don’t like. For the necro, I replaced the goofy shoulder ribs with the heavy pauldron, and the red pants with the light pants/boots.

All you really need to mix and match existing armor parts is CascView to extract the data files, and Noesis to properly browse them. Then just renaming the files and packing them to a mod folder gets the job done.

The arrows were a bit more tricky without being able to directly edit the 3d models. As soon as I figured out that they use a unique texture, I just made a blank one to make them “invisible”. Was quite surprised to find that the shadows of the arrows disappeared as well.

I’m not actually sure what controls the opacity of ethereal items, or if changing one wouldn’t affect all of them. Could be as simple as editing just the inventory art. Dunno, never tried looking into it.

just shut up already, you annoy the freak out of everyone here. even in smash brothers you can have cosmetic mods. and thats much more competitive than d2r. Besides that controller players already get free pickit, so unfair towards mouse and keyboard player. even devs at larian where very happy about the modding community, since they add alot of stuff that they simply did not have the time or money to implement.

TBH This is not my first time using them online either, it was quite a while ago when I was just messing with the files and testing things out even online. Been at least a couple banwaves since then.

So I think it’s pretty safe to say that blizz doesn’t care.

Edit because can’t double post:

Now this is pretty curious. It seems that even .txt file edits can affect the official servers, to some degree at least. Have a looksee at these at these screenshots. Had to take them using a controller, so that the game name shows it is indeed a game made from the lobby.

Now, I said to some degree, because I tried to kill Corpsefire to test this out, but the actual damage didn’t seem to be any higher than normal. despite the insane 500% Amp.

I’m not really sure what to make of this, thoughts?

Your client may say 1 thing, but the server has its own values it follows instead.

All you’ve done is edit the local files to display something.

What Highlander said is correct, the servers still use their own text files. Also there is a floor of -100% physical resistance so you can’t go any lower than that (hardcoded limit AFAIK).

Exactly what dad would expect his angsty teenager son to say after being called out for their nonsense.

Clarification: I annoy people who think they can eat the cupcake but dad won’t notice all the icing on their face.

Other adults not desperate for validation are laughing right along with me.

Including myself.

We get it, you like to lick acti/blizz’s boot and think mods are the devil.

I suspected as much. Then it seems txt edits are good to go along with art assets to change things visually. It would be pretty stupid if people could just start changing game balance on the official servers with basic modding.

Huh, didn’t know that.

typical criminal mindset calling people who want laws enforced “bootlickers”. go live somewhere without laws. you wont, you just want to take advantage of those that follow the laws. you’re also the first to call the police when you dont get your way.
