I was playing single player offline earlier today. Now I can’t continue my game with this character and when I try to play a game with this character I get the following message: “Failed to Join Game”. I don’t even understand why this is possible since I’m playing offline.
Restarting the game does not appear to fix this issue.
Same problem here. Game crashed the computer while I was playing on an offline character and now every time I try to start a game on that character I get the loading screen, then “failed to join game” and am back in the menu.
edit: created a new character and I’m getting the exact same problem

Same problem here. I got this when i had blackout in home for few seconds. Right now i can’t create new chars offline, every time i see “Failed to Join Game” but i can play chars for original Diablo2R without expansion. Online works normaly. i tried reinstall game.

This has been my day 1 problem.
Old Version of D2: Character loads up fine.
D2 Resurrected: Failed to join game.
Same issue, don’t know how to fix it
I’m having the same issue as all of these people. It doesn’t matter if my character already existed or I create a new one, Failed to Join game.
No one has any solutions?

I was able to solve this issue for my offline character by removing the shared stash file. See here: [SOLVED] "Failed to join game" for offline character after crash
This game is so ridiculously unstable that I would recommend that you create frequent backups/copies of the game save folder, which you can then revert to if necessary.
