I heard somewhere once that the Countess drops on average 2-3 runes if you’re playing solo. I’ve been running her for rune drops and have been only getting 1 most of the time. Did something change or was I miss informed?
Are you only one in the game? On /players 1 setting?
If yes, you were just unlucky.
I’m playing a ladder character and yes, I’m the only one in the game.
Seems like being unlucky is the norm for me. I can’t get the drop rates expected and when I do get runes from her (on Hell) they are runes I can get from her on Normal…
Lack of higher runes are holding me back. I don’t know what to do…
Wow, you’ve been having a streak or really rare drops then. Maybe try farming high runes eh. I usually get 2 or 3 runes at a time, I’ve even witnessed her drop 4 runes once.
Yes she does. More often you get two. Less often you get three, maybe same chance as getting only one. Extremely rarely you get none.
Keep track of your runs with a tally on a pad of paper and you will realize how few you have actually done!
Took me 450 runs to get enough to cube up a vex rune and I think I beat the odds by a bit.
Careful. That kinda talk gets called out by some bad actors who wanna say the Countess is a waste of time.

I got into it here with some other user, don’t remember and don’t care to remember who. Tried to convince me that farming the Council in Act 3 with a horker barb (find item) was faster than Countess for high rune farming. I had a spreadsheet that tracked time taken to create runewords from Countess and Council farming. Countess won every time. He tried to say I was full of it. Just goes to show, much like climate change, even when you show people the data they’re still gonna choose to believe the narrative over facts presented.

If you want real HRs, as in runes above Lo, then Countess sucks…cows, chaos, wsk & trav are all much much better…but if you want runes up to Ist, countess is ok. And yes countess drops 1-4 runes…please run her a few hundred times before you make these threads about how you think your 20 runs is statistically significant when it ain’t at all…

I had statistics from personal play testing. Countess gave more throughput of high runes, but the caveat was the requirement on gems. The biggest pain point was topaz, particularly chipped. I made several of each runeword, and tabulated how many runs of Countess, Council, and Cows it took.
My conclusion was simple; doing Countess is not a waste of time, and should be incorporated alongside other farming methods.
I can’t do those yet. I can’t get past Duriel in act II. I’m stuck because of my lack of runes.
I don’t think it’s the lack of runes. More the lack of skill or knowledge about the game mechanics. Play more and learn.

You can easily solo the game with blues and yellows…what build are you playing as?

25-30 ral = ist
5-6 pul = ist
40 sol = mal + pul
15-21 fal = 5-7 lem = ist
4,5-6 terrorK = ist
20-22 hel = ist
75-90 tal = 25-30 ral = ist
This is just the tip of the iceberg…
This said…there is nothing more reliable than our old gal countess when talking about wealth…its easy to make 2-3 ist a day of farming(2-3h), some times even 5 ist but almost never less than 2 ist…about a ber every 10 days
Now i ask…is there any other place where you can reliable get yourself a ber every 10 days?

The lower your MF with Countess, the better it is.
What I don’t get is how you get so many keys. I got more Lem and Pul than you, even Um, Mal and Ist (this is from her monster drop, extremely rare), but way lesser keys.

Magic find doesn’t affect runes one way or the other. Lower MF gets you better chances of runeword bases, but doesn’t affect runes.

Yeah, trying to find raw mid/high runes can be rough with a lot of famine and hardly any feast.
Saving those low runes can help keep it from feeling pointless. A lot of people seem to be doing crafting at the moment. From what I can tell 10xRal is going for Pul right now. The other runes might sell too, but I’ve only had luck moving Ral runes quickly.
Also Terror keys are decent trading items as well.
