Really wished D2R had an account profile for your online characters like on POe

For those who don’t know

Poe has an online profile for your account where you can see:

  • your characters
  • theirs stats
  • their level
  • achievements
  • gear
  • skills
  • progression
  • public by default but can be set to private

This allows third party sites to fetch that information and compile it to display builds, skill and items usage

I feel that this would be awesome in Diablo 2 online and hope it makes it in Diablo4, wether it’s by Blizzard themself or left to third party sites

It’s awesome information to have

Or like the armory/career page for D3.

Don’t know about D3, haven’t touched that steaming pile in like 10 years lol

But I know Poe one pretty well and love the functions it offers

But being from a giant dev like blizzard it could be 1 step further and be an app as well

Edit: after taking a look it looks similar, hope it has the whole spectrum of options that can generate sites like Poeninja

Can’t relate… I actually prefer D3 to PoE lol

You mean like D2 used to have for your profile bio, and all Blizzard games pre Bnet2.0, long before POE had, right?

Yes, that is one of the items we have requested Blizzard re-instate in the lobby of the game, profile and for characters, long before you came on these forums.

Nice try trying to bring your precious POE into a D2R discussion.

They copied, not founded profiles.

virginscalibure want a cracker?

Sorry if I’m speaking from what I witnessed and experienced

Not my fault if blizzard had not released a quality game since 2004 to have make me experience what you are talking about

This was in no way to bring Poe in the topic lol troll harder

And no D2 never had a character profile

It had a player profile

Which is why maxroll d2 planner was welcomed as a saviour lol

Also I never claimed Poe invented it… but still it was there before D3 if we are talking in terms of arpg

Right, you brought it into the thread to troll…

Correct, maybe you do have some reading comprehension afterall, when you want too I guess…
We have been requesting character profiles as I said.
We WANT atleast the account profiles back and proper lobby channels and the same interaction we once had on bnet.

Rule of thumb should be that privacy is the default, not something you have to opt in.

It’s not personal informations

It’s just characters

Making it private by default would ruin the concept as there little to no reason to set it public in the first place

Make it public by default so as much data as possible is available and if people are paranoid then they can private it

Me too. I wish I could see stats of people who post crappy changes on the forum every day.

If there is little to no reason to set a profile public then there is no reason to make it available in the first place. :smirk: (Please don’t take that comment seriously, I don’t actually believe it would be a bad thing to be able to make your in-game information public on the forums.)

However, I cannot stress enough how important it is that the default setting is to private. It does not take a long time to see how it’s been used as a discrimination tool on the PoE forums, as other forum users will look for whatever is available to discredit you. And if it’s not the default setting, users will just say you are trying to hide your mediocrity by setting your profile to private. It’s just a lose-lose situation.
Generally speaking, it’s important that the gaming community gets used to the notion that privacy ON should always be the default, so that companies don’t get away with putting all your private information on full display for everyone to see whenever they can.

I think this is the one Sekscalibure post that I agree with.

What you’re asking for sounds like API support that would allow Blizzard or a third party site to show character/account information which would be great to facilitate trading, showing gear for guides (like you could export your Bnet character to the Maxroll planner for example), for content creators/streamers/speedrunners to show their stats/gear to viewers like they could with DiabloInterface in original D2, etc. There’s a whole lot of possibilities.

^ Here was a post asking for API support that got a blue post back when D2R released, unfortunately it was a non-answer.

I also had a post here regarding APIs. I think it’d be great for D2R to have API support, there’s a lot of untapped potential.
