Newbie hardcore player question: Isn’t hardcore multiplayer risky as hell?
I have some very unpleasant memories in softcore with lvl 90+ chars joining games, helping out a bit then going hostile and assassinating the entire group for lulz…
It’s not, sadly. Most likely they will keep buffing stuff, then also buff foes. The only hope are us to expect that this time they buff players as AP and monsters as GP
if you invest enough on survivability, it’s really unlikely to die, unless you’re careless or afk. Most folks just keeps investing in damage, in that regard it’s really risky.
As general rule, for survivability. Having a nice hp pool (around 1k-1.5k) and resists 75-90 range. You often are fine against elemental damage, then improve either defense or physical damage reduction or both. Block can be interesting but not priority for most builds. You could use some elemental absorb or other sources of damage reduction but as general rule often youre fine. Monsters damage doesn’t scalate well while their hp does.
You pretty much can handle p1 within 2k elemental range(against non immunes to that element, even if they have resist for that particular element) also.
More damage would viabilize more P(x) value on time/reward wise. Folks who often go P8 pays either mf or survival wise in some way to improve the overall damage output. If you add lower resist wand and/or infinity you often are fine at 2k range anyways even at p8.
Each additional player roughly increases: 50% hp, 6.25% AR and 6.25% Damage
so at p8 would be 400% hp, 150% AR and 150% damage.
If the foe does like 10-30 of damage would do 15-45 damage. That’s why survivability can be useful. While static field and cb can solve the hp portion increase paired with open wounds by example.
So in the end, the game gets just more time consuming not more challenging. Unless you invest on glass cannon build for a “small” gain on damage wise sacrificing survivability to save some seconds each run.
If you have CtA and infinity by example, you solved most of your hp issue and the damage issue, meaning that if you increase your overall resist and reduce the damage taken would solve the other part.
Until CtA and infinity you can manage stuff a bit less faster if you play on safe side, but with those 2, often you become p8 viable really fast.

Why are you creating topics asking for something that already exists?
The reason you don’t see games is due to Blizzard not showing games other than ones close to you. I guess they wanted to keep latency low but it comes with the problem of people thinking the game is dead. And in a way it is dead for this reason to many of us.
Players command is on single player for a reason. There you can play the challenge as much as you like. If there was players command for bnet I would never play other than my own games. It would completely kill any ladder race as it is always best to level solo if you get full xp.

Players X command doesn’t exist on bnet. I want it to exist on bnet so I can have challenging play and participate in ladder, and play with friends and family on occasion, and trade with people.

Yes I know games are displayed by region/ip, so Let’s say if they were on that list. Would be an extra 5 games, one Baal 8 player game That lasts 8 mins, and 4 other games with only one player In them. I still can’t find my 8 player game.
What’s beneficial for Blizzard? Merging region games to Show more on list, creating lag and a bad user experience, or Keeping region games where they are, Displaying in own region, and just adding players X command in bnet?
We need to Stop Moving the goal line and making excuses. buy simply adding Players X on bnet, everyone will be happy without compromising laggy gameplay by merging regions, and you will satisfy hardcore gamers that are really good at the game
As a hardcore player with a bunch of wealth, who never plays anymore, I’ll cite the reason I quit. The game is just too unstable to play HC. I can handle losing it all to a rough pack. I can’t handle losing it all when my character stays in game for 2 minutes defenseless when I get disconnected. I really don’t see HC the same way I did coming in at launch. Before it was the prestige of getting far without dying, but I eventually realized its all luck and death by disconnect is around the corner at any given day.
That said, I do agree we need a players X function, but I think Blizzard is going about it all wrong. We shouldn’t have to pick between players X and isolation. Every game should have a min players level on it from creation. Regardless of players coming and going, the game should always stay at the minimum level chosen if its higher than the number of players in the game. So…
Set to players 4, you start at players 4 and if players 2-4 come in nothing changes. If player 5 comes in, it scales to players 5. If everyone leaves, it still stays at players 4. This would enable it to still scale and keep it the same difficulty we have now, yet give players who want players 8 to still get the challenge and reward they are looking for while still having a public game.

If I had players X command, I’ll make my own players 8 game, and just play by myself for an hour, then I’m done for The day.

FFA loot kills the incentive for grouping way more than players X will ever do. IMO they should just remove players X command and add monster power 1 to 10 like in vanilla D3 and add some sort of XP bonus for playing with a party.

At high level, we don’t Even care about Loot anymore
If a fair compromise is keep loot drops same and give us option to scale Monster level to let’s even say 16, I will Be perfectly Fine With that.
I just want the challenge and fun, otherwise if the game is to easy (since there are no 8 player games that last more than 8 mins) I literally feel I’m wasting my time
I dont get the point of finding 8 players games since basically noone are playing cooperative. (except baal runs for leveling quick). Everyone just wants 7 other players to get the same droprates as /players 8 and do quick MF-runs. They idea that random people should play together online is just an idea that does not work.
If random people MF:ed together noone wants to play with ranged attacks since they would not get any loot. I don’t like the idea of personal loot but that would solve one problem.
Literally what happens on hardcore bnet is people look for That game that has over 5 players in it, they join, mf everything really fast before someone else does, teleporting super speed, and then leave the game with everything done. Then the game Disbands. All in less that 10 minutes.
Why can’t we set our own players 8 game, play at our pace we want, mf wherever we choose.
There is no need to play in party when each of the 8 players in the game has best in slot gear, and they can solo anything by themselves.
everyone on here dont want to admit the player base is like 20% of what it was at launch. idk if people are getting paid to simp for blizzard or what but i dont understand the defending of a company that clearly doesnt care about its player base after they get your money.
People say its due to region we cant see many more games on our lobby list. I agree, but I have friends in other regions in americas, it’s literally another 4 games with 1 player each, and one Baal full game that lasts 8 minutes.
We still have the same problem of not being able to play consistently in 8 player games for Long periods of time.
Having players X scaling on game creation in bnet will fix this.
