Simply put, Frozen Armor, Shiver Armor, and Chilling Armor should not have synergies with each other. No one is going to invest 20 skill points each for all 3 armors. They should instead have synergies with other skills, such as Frozen Orb, Frost Nova, Ice Bolt, etc. For example, an Ice Bolt synergy for Chilling Armor would be nice so Chilling Armor Ice Bolts could do decent damage. Please consider changing synergies of sorceress armor skills.
I agree that the synergies with each other should be removed because you’re right it makes no sense. No sorc is going to spend points into armors they aren’t using it takes away too much from damage skills. I’m not sure about actually having any synergies with these skills they should just include the synergy bonus into the skill already for each point you spend.
The changes to chilling armor being 200% damage and shiver armor only getting 25% is silly too. They say they want each to have “distinct advantages” but they are not considering the players who prefer shiver armor for melee attackers. Shiver armor needs more of a buff than 25% since you have to be in melee for it to trigger. Ranged sorcs just got a huge buff with chilling armor … can we get some love for melee sorc?
Yea it doesn’t make much sense. I don’t think it will matter anyway since they’re waaaaay to bad to use even after being buffed.
This is a good point. If they ever gave frozen Orb another synergy to compete with blizzard they should do it like that.

Since frozen armor freezes attackers why not synergize it with frost nova. Chilling armor’s synergy can be ict bolt since it shoots ice bolts that makes sense. Shiver armor should have synergy with something like enchant tho since it’s melee.

I don’t even think synergies should exist at all. Just let people build how they want instead of pigeonholing them into a specific build path.
Good point, to be honest I would go a little further and remove the two unused armor’s from the tree completely and adjust the remaining frozen armor to get considerable stronger the more points you invest into it.
Something for nova sorc to use for some real defence maybe.
Blizzard and Orb are nearly identical when it comes to clear speed. Just do not play 24/7 baal runs, and you will see that
a) Orb damage is MEGA, especially for the few skill points
b) Orb is much better suited for two elemental play

From my experience I have seen orb fares well in solo or up to p3 but then anything higher is much quicker using blizzard.
Also blizzard way quicker for solo meph runs or AT runs. Orb is a good alternative for maggot lair but ppl don’t really farm that area. It comes down to personal play style but everyone knows …

Ya the armor skills shouldn’t synergize each other. They should synergize some other cold skills. There should be more value in the armor skills.
Frozen armor seems fine and basic.
Give shiver armor something like 0.5% to cold res per level.
Chilling armor being the highest level should grant something like 0.5% chance to block per level while active, to a hard cap of 10% maybe.
I’m still going to just put 1 point in Frozen Armor.
What would be interesting is if they made each armor spell not require any prerequisites. That way if I want to wait and 1 point Shiver armor at level 12 or Chilling Armor at 24, I can.
I like changes to armors but they do need to stack effects so it can make new fun build.
Frost nova and one of the armors synergies just makes sense. You’re going in to get hit. They should make that happen.
I was honestly fine with the armors just being ya know, 1 point and done, it’s cool they’re trying to do something with them or whatever, but I can’t see myself ever putting more than 1 point into frozen armor and calling it a day.
In fact having 3 Armor skills in the same skill tree does not work well too,
it is better if we have 1 Armor skill in each tree.
Frozen Armor: Function as its.
Lighting Armor: Can hit enemies when they try to attack with lighting strike.
Fire Armor: Can work as holy fire dmg + % Damage Taken Goes To Mana.
It sure was, sometimes I think the OG devs smoked a bit too much at work, wish I could have been smoking with them though. So they are adding some changes to it. Increasing durations, adding scaling and a reason to go down to pick the 3rd skill. I personally think it needs a bit more, but we shall see in a day or so during PTR to test the changes.
just get rid of the armor spells and replace them with 3 totally new spells.
