This was my first comment about the sorc. Who’s going to put 60 pts into shield for synergies?

You dont have to put 60 points to get synergy benefits, only 3. Furthermore from a min/max perspective by level 94 your blizz sorc will be maxxed out, and with good gear you can get lots of extra points from not overdoing cold mastery (meaning you can min/max sooner than 94 as well if you want depending on your skiller/+skills situation). Cold mastery should really never exceed -150 because almost all monsters in hell have 150 or less. Some are 160-170 but nothing is over 170, so even with 150 you will have them down to -80 cold resist (-100 is the max).
With torch, anni, 6 cold charms and decent gear you are looking at overall about 18-21+ for your cold skills overall. This makes it easy to hit the -150 point for cold mastery, giving you 11 points left over at level 94 (after investing 1 each into every armor skill) to put into more armor skills or something like warmth if you want. This also means by merely putting 1 point into every shield skill you can get up to 20+ in every shield, and whichever you decide to use will gain the synergy benefits of the other ones.
So technically you could pump up to 12 into the shield of your choice and just 1 in the others for a total of 14 points and still basically be min-max in every way. Or you could put 8 into your shield of choice and put 4 more into cold mastery to make sure you get -100% on the few hell mobs that have 170 resist and are not also cold immune, but when you are doing almost 10k blizzard damage it makes basically no difference.

changes to sorc armors were poorly thought out
i dont know. you could run around the board with an uber defensive sork that would be almost unkillable but takes an eternity to kill anything. this is similar to the summoning necro which noobs love so much. its very much in the spirit of blizzard character creation choices. bad choices are choices too.
have you not realized they do not and have not played this game much???
it will be up to community , and sadly i think the purists already won underneath the nice graphics 2.4 is still diablo 2 1.14 LOD with a couple really bad runewords ( i like the bow and i would like the sword if it was 4 socket runeword)
