Thanks again for illustrating that more and more PC players are using controllers in multiplayer games, highlighting why optional ploot should be introduced. I appreciate your continued effort to get optional ploot introduced.
Yeah but you’ll get less loot on average , you’ll be fighting the system ( RNG ) on top of RNG and since the personal loot can be made optional anyone can just opt out of it .
For the rest who know what they are getting into ( RNG on top of RNG ) , well they asked for it .
There is no downside , if it is made optional and like Athelwynn said - properly tested .
The only way i would accept ploot is a completly seperated realm. Ploot realm would be filled up anyway with the amateurs so in this way i could see far less d3 grown up players who have no game knowledge.
Whether you, I, or anyone else places specific conditions on accepting ploot, it is of little consequence. Hypothetically speaking, optional ploot is introduced at game creation, you do not accept it. How would that change anything in D2R?
The loot allocation system wasn’t the reason for the loot issue in Diablo 3. FFA, ploot, and instanced loot systems can work. It is just the way it was implemented in Diablo 3 was flawed and they made the rates too high. If the total drop rate and loot tables are properly adjusted it would be the same for all three types with the exception that more people will have an equal chance of something good. FFA gives an advantage to players with better systems (higher frame rate, lower refresh rate displays, etc) while ploot and instanced loot systems keep it level for everyone regardless of system, internet, etc differences. We all know Diablo 3’s loot design was flawed but it wasn’t because of the loot distribution method alone.
Well if you think ploot is not changing anything then there is no reason to make it.
Its funny to see this when earlier you also supported seperate realm but later realised that ploot realm would be filled up only with noobs and tourists and when they leave in 2-3 monts then ploot realm would be a ghost town. Where FFA realm would be still strong cus it would be filled up with mostly old time d2 players who are not growed up on automated gift system games.
You clearly did not read the quote that you quoted. Whether you, I, or any specific person accepts the addition of ploot, it is of little consequence if Blizzard chooses to introduce it. It is Blizzard that gets the final say.
Not true. Can you link where I said this?
I think that if optional ploot is introduced, it will be where most players play and will add longevity to the game.
You figured me out.
/sarcasm
I grew up on automated gift system games like pong and atari. I was already a working professional when diablo 1 came out.
Yeah it is working so well. Pls can you show me 1 game where there is ploot, ffa, and instanced system and the majority is still not solo players? xD
So in FPS games you go to the forum and tell the developers to give you the same amount of kills cus you have bad pc, internet? Would be finaly good to learn that same chances doesnt mean the same outcome. If your hardware is bad thatis your problem.
What does this have to do with anything I just said ?
Also , if personal loot is optional you don’t have to join any of the games in the lobby filled with people you don’t want to play with therefore you guessed it separate realm is just not needed - it’s a game option , not a game mode . It’s a feature .
You must have misinterpreted what I said. My point is that Blizzard had a horrible implementation for the overall loot mechanics that you can’t blame on the distribution method (FFA, ploot, instanced loot). A proper implementation of any of these would work. However, The fact is FFA is broken because people can abuse it. If you read my other posts I stated that Blizzard can adjust FFA to prevent scripts, give KB+mouse a 1 button key to grab loot, and aim to prevent leechers from getting loot. After thoroughly testing ploot and/or instanced loot with the proper drop rate and loot table numbers they can add it as an option.
The problem you have is that you are looking at things from a biased pure player view. I am looking at things from a developer viewpoint of saying it can work if properly implemented but I never stated I’d be for it as on a person level I like FFA. Not sure where me saying it is possible is somehow claiming that is my stance.
Also, For your comparison of FFA, ploot, and instanced loot it would be like having 3 car brands (Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota) then saying cars suck because the one brand you bought broke down on you.
EDIT: A game that has a good non-FFA loot system is Last Epoch. They will be adding multiplayer soon we’ll be able test how it works online but I have good hopes on that game. Just because you had a bad taste from Diablo 3’s loot system doesn’t mean all games are bad like Diablo 3.
