Please put CHANGES

Hi there
First i want to thank the devs for bringing this old classic game back to life. Many players including myself and my friends have been waiting to experience diablo 2 again like it was in its glory days, but with modernized graphics.

There are some concerns though.
1.Not everyone is on equal playing field, some people are slower at clicking some are faster to name some differences. I propose adding ploot system to remove any competitiveness lootwise. And if you think Ploot is not the way to go, we could implement matchmaking system to categorize people, like in League of legends for example. This would be done as follows, when you launch game, you will be given a reaction time and clicking accuracy “test” and placed in a matchmaking based on the results, that way everyone can game with equal “opponents”.

  1. Pvp is not how its supposed to be in a modern game, you should be allowed to choose who you play against. It is not fair that someone who outmatches and outgears you just comes and kills you, with 0 counterplay and you having 0.00 seconds time to react to that. This could be fixed so that game would check each players gear, and track record of pvp kills/deaths, and apply a DEBUFF to the person who has higher odds of winning the duel.

  2. Endgame is lackluster. My suggestion is that we add more acts, act 6 through act 10. And on top of that, 16 different tiers of maps with increasing difficulty. Also some minibosses that are required to be killed to spawn and endgame boss that drops orbs that when applied enchance your skills of choice with new properties, it could be for example “spell echo” so you cast 2 hammers per cast instead of only 1.

  3. Leagues. On top of more endgame i think it would be nice if they added leagues to this game. Every league would introduce new gamebreaking crafting or loot that makes everything previously released obsolete, just so things keep being interesting.

  4. Mods should be given full support and and UI to make them, accesible for every player, so they could customize each lobby they make with their own settings, only sky would be the limit here. Some might think this would fracture the playerbase to 100000 pieces, but i dont think it would happen.

  5. Loot management should be looked at, and infinitely stacking currency tab with auto-allocating affinities should be added, to make it convenient for everyone to pick every single item they get allocated. This way everyone can have as much of everything as they want and people would not need to rely in trade or player interaction at all to accumulate needed crafting materials or whatever. But how are people supposed to loot and store all this stuff then you may ask? Simple. Give charms a separate inventory so you have full inventory space for loot only. Even better, we could remove charms completely and transfer their power into a passive skill tree with hundreds of different nodes for players to choose from. This way we can utilize the charm inventory space to hoard even more loot on us.

  6. Add some MTX and supporter packs attached to every league, this way game would keep making money over the years and doesnt need to rely on onetime sales. I personally would enjoy the MTXes to enhance my gameplay (maybe sneak a couple of flying mounts in there?).

Long post, but i hope atleast someone read through it. These are my 2 cents and if you have any other suggestions you think would be good, please share them.

Thank you

All I can really say is, I sincerely hope they keep this game as close to the original as they can. These massive changes that people want are going to twist the game into something else entirely.

Classic gameplay—the same Diablo II you know and love, preserved.

Bingo! Zero changes, closest to the original experience as possible.

You are getting a 20 year old game with a fresh coat of paint.

Don’t like it? Head back to D3. And I TRULY don’t care if they don’t like that statement. IF they want these idiotic changes, that’s where they belong. In Whimsyshire farming Ponies and Popping Clouds.

“Safe Space” features are for soft and weak minded individuals.

I see what you did there :+1:

that’s a troll post.

and the list goes on
i highly doubt it’s not a troll post :stuck_out_tongue:

Horrible idea. I hope Blizzard doesn’t take requests like this seriously.

Of course it is, but if you read it it really does show how awful the game would be if everything is catered to for the casual player base.

Some of the changes mentioned in this forum are ridiculous, and I hope the devs don’t go back on what truly has been an inspiring vision. A remastered d2.

i guess.
Personally i just want more character slot. (and eventually some more character tab to make less mules by making each mules able to mule more items even instead of the 2 extra shared tab)
as we were able to have that in OG D2 with unlimited account

for the rest , as it is it’s fine by me.

Yep.

“Classic gameplay—the same Diablo II you know and love, preserved.”

…would become…

“… ??? gameplay—a completely different Diablo II that caters to everyone and no one at the same time, completely butchered. We can’t even believe we’re still calling it Diablo II.”

Sooooo… Path of Diablocraft?

D2 is a complete game that was released 20 years ago. What everyone who wants these types of changes wants is D4…Please be patient your game will be out in a year or so. Until then please enjoy D3 or PoE.

Quality troll post. Made me seriously concerned in the first two sentences or so.

Then why is the thread still up?

I propose adding ploot system to remove any competitiveness lootwise.

This would be fine on softcore. As long as it’s only on softcore normal play.

Pvp is not how its supposed to be in a modern game, you should be allowed to choose who you play against.

Diablo II isn’t a competitive shooter designed around match making functionality. Diablo II is a dungeon crawler/ Action RPG. The world is meant to be against the player. It’s a similar design to that of Dark Souls just without everything evolving around the third person camera. With that stated, should one of the more casual modes have such an option? Sure but it should only be with that mode. In this case again, softcore.

Endgame is lackluster. My suggestion is that we add more acts, act 6 through act 10.

I don’t see Blizzard/Activision supplying this much dev time after release. Why? because of Diablo IV. If Blizzard/Activision adds all this in? What would be the point in doing another installment to the Diablo series?

  1. Leagues. On top of more endgame i think it would be nice if they added leagues to this game. Every league would introduce new gamebreaking crafting or loot that makes everything previously released obsolete, just so things keep being interesting.

This was the point in Ladder from Blizzards prior updates to LOD. With Blizzards/ VV’s recent change to ladder exclusive items being non exclusive now, something has to take it’s place to make ladder interesting to play. My hope is, with every new ladder, make it more challenging to play.

Mods

Mods are not coming. Blizzard’s reasoning for that were sound. Mods for the most point assuming they will be made, will only effect offline SP play. That’s the way it should be.

Loot management should be looked at,

Why should loot management be looked at when you are in support of ploot? It may possibly still use the drop system in the current DII, but that doesn’t change how even with this still implemented, gives party players a huge advantage by itself with ploot than those with out it.

  1. Add some MTX and supporter packs attached to every league, this way game would keep making money over the years and doesnt need to rely on onetime sales. I personally would enjoy the MTXes to enhance my gameplay (maybe sneak a couple of flying mounts in there?).

If blizzard manages there own site or partners with a third party site, that sell’s players items they decide to sell to the site and or players on said site, that would be a way for Blizzard to make money that way. Honestly, this is a pipe dream because odds are the third party sites operating from Diablo II will find some way, to create new sites to sell high end gear. It’s that, or players will do so themselves.

These are valid concerns, people are asking for similar changes and they are not called “trolls”

Because not enough people flagged it as trolling? I dunno, I usually give quite a bit of lenience for sarcasm before I throw the troll label on things.

I regard this as A+ sarcasm, rather than trolling. To each their own.

good troll post. Its kinda obv. but definately serious enough for 90% of people in here thinking its serious and not just trolling the changes crowd

Alright. Your choice, i guess.

i ment to get rid of loot tetris and have affinites in tabs and you could name tabs so that you just need to ctrl+click items to stash and they would automatically go where you want

Hmm, Diablo II though isn’t about a limitless supply of infinite space. I can understand wanting additional shared stash tabs. That seems more plausible. But limitless inventory space? either through stash and or inventory space? I don’t think the game is optimized enough to handle such a thing. Yes mods did have such feature, but that was with the game running on original Diablo II. With it’s software limitations and perhaps even hardware limitations.

Resurrected has improved graphics and design changes to all monsters, items, characters, so and so forth. That all takes memory. adding a feature that adds limitless inventory/stash space would be only relevant for those with high end PC’s and next gen consoles. That’s not the majority right now, especially considering the pandemic.

Sorry, after reading your reply for the third time, I realized then what you are saying, you are asking for a auto send mechanic right? that makes more sense.
