Need help with gpu settings

You think 1080p resolution would solve it? That’s what I use. Idk if 4k can scale down in resolution or not.

Ah. Yes. I forgot. Hehe. It has hdmi 2.0. Il try 4k 60 or 1440 120 then.
See what feels best.

Solving the issue is in my above posts with vsync and limiting the Hertz on higher res. Lower res for example 1080p can run 120 Hertz on HDMI 2.0b. but I like 4k too much lol

Hope that fixes it

Don’t blame you one bit. I’d go to 4k but not until I get a worthy gpu. Also the OP should be running vsync and not freesync just in case they forgot.

If my above posts with vsync and resolutions are applied then he should not be having any more issues with what was shown in the video

As a side note I get stuttering when paying so I ended up changing the resolution to 80 percent(in d2r) when at 4k. It makes the graphics a tad bit worse but in the end makes it much more cleaner in keeping 60fps

Thanks. Seems like that helped. Tested 10 mins and didnt notice any issues. 4k 60fps vsync

Tearing.

Here are some obvious fixes…

  1. Turn the terrain quality down. This helps more than anything, for some reason in D2R the terrain quality is a major slap.

  2. Turn off Vsync, and set a frame cap instead. (Something at least 1.5 to 2x your refresh rate).

  3. There is a way to pre-load the entire game so that it doesn’t need to decompress the files. I use Ladik’s Casc Viewer, which is permitted by Blizzard to allow the full load of the game once in an area. This significantly reduces the load time of waypoints once used. It is a little more involved than just unchecking a Vsync box, but you could google it. This may not help the moment to moment tearing as much as the other two suggestions, but it does make the game snappier.

Possibly lower lag.

Not really as others pointed out the RTX2060 does not have HDMI2.1 so it would be a waste to connect it to the 2.1 input instead.

The PS5 has HDMI2.1 and also can output 4k@120Hz, although not many games will actually run at 4k@120FPS.

DLSS does not impact the CPU at all. It saves GPU rendering power by running internally at a lower resolution and use temporal upscaling + “NN-Magic” to blow up the output resolution.

This can improve performance in GPU limited scenarios, but your setup will 100% not be GPU limited at all in D2R, so it will not have any meaningful impact on performance.

You can try it and use it if you prefer it, DLSS despite the lower internal render resolution tends to be more temporal stable then most games default AA solution.
You can try it if you prefer the look.

Vsync off will cause his tearing to come back, what I proposed worked and pretty much a solved issue
No need for any of your suggestions that could very well cause more issues.

I can’t be sure if you’re gaslighting, a troll, or both?

Turning Vsync off can solve screen tearing, if you have the appropriate equipment. I’m sorry you didn’t know this, but now you do.

120hz is absolutely enough refresh rate to merit turning off Vsync. If he lowers his terrain quality and sets his fps cap to 120 - 180 - 240, he will be fine. Vsync, if not Freesync/Gsync, is a solution to minimize tearing at the expense of a fluid experience.

So while Vsync may “solve” the problem, it’s not the optimal solution. Also, he shouldn’t be running back and forth between two zones. He should have ran in circles at the middle of any one area to demonstrate the problem.

@Dex: Also, you said 4k 120hz vrr, that brought up a TV. These are slightly more complicated. As stated on numerous sites, and by Necrosaro, you need a 2.1 HDMI.

This is also correct.

So lower the resolution, turn your terrain quality down (this is a major one), and if you’re stuck at a subpar refresh rate below 120hz due to lack of bandwidth in the HDMI cable, you can still uncap and turn off vsync. If your frames are high enough, your screen tearing will vanish (which may be the case with the reduced resolution). If they aren’t, even with vysnc off, and no frame rate limiter, then you’re reduced to what Necrosaro suggested, turning on crappy vsync.

I’ve found personally clicking items and monsters in 4k using an HDR tv to be tedious, so I moved back to my 144hz monitor personally.

Cheers.

Read the original poster that is above, issue resolved at the moment till he said otherwise. No need to break something that is now working for him

If he can manage what you suggested, then he’s intelligent enough to click a few more boxes to see if he prefers another solution, if his CPU/GPU combo isn’t enough then he can swap it back. It’s not a huge deal.

I am not going to fight what you or I believe is right. It got fixed and no other posts since. Let the original poster decide what’s good for him and let it be.

Dude, you must not listen to yourself talk. How can he decide what works for him, if you’re over here insisting you’re right while simultaneously declaring you won’t “fight me” over a possible second solution?

You’re configured far to one side, aren’t ya?

He decided what works for him right in the comment.

“Thanks. Seems like that helped. Tested 10 mins and didnt notice any issues. 4k 60fps vsync”

Once again if any other issues he will post them.

Yes, he found a solution that works. I presented another, if his rig is powerful enough. Vsync is something most veteran gamers desire to remove if possible. I was proposing a simple few clicks to see if that was a possibility with his setup. If you can grasp that, fine, if not, no loss for me.

Jeesus. Why is it so freaking important to you that only YOUR advice is what he uses and no one else’s?
You sound really, really starved for affirmation.

My advice worked, it didn’t matter who it came from as long as it worked. Once again this is most likely closed unless we hear otherwise. Why are people having a fuss about it.

I came in here with my first posts a bit back asking for help and I got mostly crapped on because of my question. Now providing a solution to someone having issues and still crapped on but others who are not even the original poster. If you want to be like that go ahead but not in this guy’s thread.

Thanks
