I’ve only barely browsed to see if something has been said so apologies if this is the millionth post. Me and most of my friends generally used to play Diablo 2 most of the way through, then use trainers or such to alter characters, or mods to alter the game. We’ve reached the point where we’d like to use such utilities, but my… slight looking into the forums make me think such programs are now grounds for account banning. Even if they are only used for solo offline progress. I have some friends who will only purchase this if they can ‘cheat’ at will offline/solo. Or use mods. It’s incredibly difficult to see if any of this is allowed or will be allowed vis a vie forums alone (without reading the lengthy tos).
Personally I wouldn’t mind attempting some mods/cheats, but I’ve also got Hearthstone and WoW attached to this account. A full account ban for solo cheating on Diablo 2 seems… rather… excessive…
As I understand, offline is safe. Just make sure not to cross them online.
But I too, would like to see a blue post regarding this.
i wouldnt mess around with that at all tbh.
why destroy your fun and risk your account - or worse!
installing a trainer is a good way to lose interest in any game within 24 hours.
i really dont see the appeal.
+thats a good way to end up with a keylogger on your machine lol
Imo, a loot filter mod is ok
Altering drop rate, exp, max level limit, area level, are cheating
So it’s not really incredibly difficult, when the answer to your question is in that lengthy ToS you don’t want to read, but already agreed. Maybe you should what you agreed to, then come back to us and tell us what your answer is.
Most, if not all, games, and products, have a tos, which, in fact, is a tool to hold hostage the user. It is 90% the same between game and product, requiring you to surrender both control and will, before even being allowed to play a game you purchased. It doesn’t matter if you even read it. Do you A) want to play 100% of games and products released or B) No, you do not. Your comment provides no information, nor does it enlighten anyone.
I agreed to play a game I bought many years ago and currently have installed along side a graphically but identically same game. I wish to alter said game… client side. no harm to anyone but myself.
People actually read the tos?
It’s not in my position to enlighten anyone that cannot enlighten themselves. I could take all your words and just flip them back on you, as YOU’RE the one that didn’t read your ToS. Here’s your enlightenment, are you ready for it? Read your ToS, now you’re enlightened.
Offline, anything should be allowed. If I screw up my offline D2 character, I should not be penalized in World of Warcraft. BTW a quick search showed zero results for D2R ToS. If I clicked accept to a generic if you don’t accept you can’t play, I shouldn’t be at war with people on the other side of the fence.
Yes mods/cheats are allowed. In SP offline. MP modding is not supported by blizzard.
Also blizzard posted on there tweeter account stating and encourage modders to try making mods for D2R.
You mean like… PD2??
Typical, companies release half-made games then expect the player community to fix everything with mods.
They will never come out and say “offline mods/ cheats are fine”, because they won’t give you permission to break TOS/ EULA. However, they realize they have no control over what you do with the game on your own system, so they stay silent about it. If you do, and they find out, they can, and will BAN YOUR ACCOUNT… so there’s that risk.
yup pretty much how it is in this day and age. tbh its sad the industry has gone down this road
No need to cheat online. You can just buy the best runes and gear on websites, even on ebay. Trading is the downfall of any game. It opens the door for bots to collect all the best gear, and then sell it online to make a hefty profit. It also opens the door to duping. Blizzard was smart and eliminated trading in D3, not sure why they left it in D2R. The cheating here is all due to Blizzards actions.
As for playing offline, there is no restrictions really, as far as I know. It would be nice if a moderator posted and determined if this is so.
if you read the tos/EULA you will see that there is a section in these that talks about mods. which is stating that any mods made for any blizzard game is soul property of blizzard.
on top of that there was a blue post before launch encourging modders to try and make mods for D2R. mods for SP are supported this will not break your tos/eula. if you use any mods on bnet. then yes you are breaking tos/eula
Because everyone would rebel against Blizzard if they had removed trade from Diablo II Resurrected
Mods of most sorts are permitted in Single Player. This policy hasn’t changed for D2R from D2LOD. The only thing not permitted as of this post is total overhaul mods which modify and manipulate game data beyond simple “text based” data (item names, properties, monster names, properties, item/monster colors).
So item filters, extra monsters, stronger monsters, new items(using existing item models), larger stash are okay.
Different monsters, re-skinning your character, new zones are not okay.
Actually reskinning characters and monsters shold be totally OK since it happens client side. Changing of monsters behave or character stats are of course not OK but they do happen server side.
That said the removal of TCP/IP rendered every single overhaul mod obsolete and also alienated modders in supporting D2R. That’s not great since some of them really improve upon the original forumla.
