Update 2: Thx so much for Patch 2.3 which addressed way more issues than we could have hoped for. Will plan to list a new topic like this once further testing has done to provide an updates list of outstanding errors which affect gameplay compared to original D2.
Update: Thank you Blizzard for the upcoming patch information and clarifying your intent to correct the use of ‘throw’ so that this skill may be used again for namelocking! This is a huge step in the right direction and is much appreciated by the dueling community (in addition to move command and other changes as well).
Remaking topic since a few new were discovered and are added to the list. Please consider addressing the below bugs. I was excited to see the blue post that devs are working on features as well as servers, and hope the below list is being addressed.
Assassin Martial Arts Guaranteed Hit - Still Broken
For the assassin martial arts finishers (dragon talon, dragon tail, dragon claw, dragon flight), in D2R these are guaranteed hit and ignore defense, block, and dodge in PvP in the same way Smite functions. This is insanely overpowered and as a result, they have been banned in most pvp settings whereas the skills previously were a major part of the assassin’s toolbelt. An assassin with level 1 dragon talon, burst of speed, and venom is strong enough to kill fully built melee duelers and also can kill end game PVM like the game is set on easy mode. In original Diablo 2, the skills require attack rating and are blockable/dodgeable.
Attack Speed/FCR Mechanics - Fixed
There is an error in how attack speed is calculated for a variety of conditions, including with burst of speed and fanaticism. It is possible to significantly to exceed the old maximum breakpoints with enough attack speed and BOS/Fanat which fundamentally changes the game mechanics. While this may not seem like a bad thing at first, it carries a lot of other implications and I know was not your intent. As an example, on assassin you are able to lay traps, kick, and fireblast at nearly triple the limits that were present for D2 legacy.
Additionally, when tested in hero editor you may also cast faster than the old limits with use of much higher FCR items.
Name locking - Unsure if fixed
When targeting a mob, holding mouse click, and moving your cursor, sometimes the game will bug out and not maintain the target. After pressing ‘alt/enter’, the mechanic seems to reset and work properly (mostly). Something does not seem correct about how targeting is maintained when moving the cursor. This is a significant issue and much different than D2R.
Weapon Swapping - Still broken
I know this has been mentioned multiple times, but to the PVP community this is a grossly important issue. In old D2, you can spam weapon swap to help counterract hit recovery, which has become the only way to counteract builds such as trap sin which uses mind blast. It is much more important when you have been hit with a stun ability as well. Currently, spamming mind blast on a person will hold them in place indefinitely and is a big problem. PLEASE consider addressing this issue. There are many members that are waiting on resolution to playing the game, and their sole decision on playing depends on this one mechanic. If this is complicated, please reach out and I will be happy to help explain further.
Summon and Merc Teleporting - Fixed
Randomly when using teleport your summons and mercenary will not follow you on the teleport. It does not happen every time but is quite annoying when trying to use them as a meat shield or damage support when engaging or disengaging with an enemy. In old Diablo 2, they follow on every teleport. This bug seems to occur most often when summons/merc are in an attack animation. Note - this appears to be a visual bug only as the summons/mercs will still tank damage and attack even if not visually present.
Chat menu/targeting bug - Fixed
Occasionally when casting teleport your character will randomly decide not to cast anything and stand in place. Even when moving the cursor, it seems to freeze for a few seconds and changing hotkeys or opening a menu will re-enable casting.
Also it seems there is a dead space by the chat log in which you cannot cast or target. This is extremely annoying. Clicking on chat options should only appear when you have a chat message opened.
Throw Lock/‘Red’ Skills selectability - Fixed
In old D2, the ‘throw’ skill can be used on left click to grab a name lock and will hold your character in place. On D2R, skills which are ‘red’ (like throw without a throwing weapon equipped) cannot be selected even if hotkeyed.
Weapon Swap Locked - Unsure if fixed but rarely happens
Occasionally, your character will be unable to swap weapons and you must rejoin game to fix. Not sure what causes this.
Item display button to ignore targeting - Still broken
In legacy D2, if you hold ‘Alt’ (or the selected hotkey for item display), monsters and players are untargetable which is used to cast spells you would prefer not to target on such as whirlwind. In D2R, it does not function this way.
Teleport with namelock - Still broken
In legacy D2, if you hold namelock and teleport on a target, your character will continue to teleport through a certain pattern and place you beside them on the second cast. In D2R, after the first cast the skill it does not execute as it did in the older game. Also when casting teleport into a non-targetable zone (ie. outside a wall) nothing happens whereas in old D2 your character will teleport to the closest acceptable location.
