MF system and player base is dead empty

The Luddites would have you believe everyone is just waiting for 2.4/Ladder. There certainly are some in this camp, but the vast majority have quit to go play games that are more rewarding on various levels. You’ll typically see these people get described as “wanting instant gratification.”

No one likes playing the game for weeks and finding nothing worth using or trading.

Lol that you really think the way you do, I feel bad for you.

I’ll started with mass effect legendary to wait till 2.4 (very little interest in ladder itself), but right now i’m not so sure anymore if i’ll come back. Pile of shame is big enough. If summon druid get’s all pets the same time i’ll run one for sure. But besides that only less grind will bring me back. I’m not 20 anymore and got 5 hours+ a day to spend.

It’s a bit sad, i love this game it’s in my eternal top three with the first mass effect and the First guild wars, and resurrected is awesome i totally had a blast, but running 1 maybe 2 hours a day gives you zero progress once you hit endgame. It’s just frustrating, and it was the same 20 years ago.

And everyone telling “it’s what makes the Game great” while only running blizz sorc and hamerdin are just nuts and have no clue how brilliant this game is in every other aspect.

TIL I am no one, hmm…

Though of course that doesn’t actually happen, to play the game for weeks and finding nothing worth using or trading, is almost impossible, if not actually impossible.

You might argue that each of these threads indicates another possible player loss… While we may not like the wine… eventually we will look around and find ourselves playing alone.

I honestly have no idea why you even playing this game when you are complaining about the very core of the game here.

Make changes that you suggested change the core of the game.

Better solution is just quit the game. D2 isn’t for you

That’s okay in my book…D2 is not a game for the faint of heart. It is as true and real a game as there ever was, back when games were made with actual game design used to make the best game possible, rather than catering to the idea of creating a game to make the most money to the broadest audience that so many games now employ.

No place for weakness . Only the hard and strong may call themselves Spartans (D2 players). Only the hard, only the strong.” -300

@supercuddles… this game is already abandonware are we ready to ditch it to the pile with D2?

This only happens if you are either

A) Clueless as to how to play/where to item find
B) Already have amazing gear and are trying to find the top 3% of items

Jumping into Lost Ark and seeing how that is handled, it is exactly as people say with “Instant Gratification”. You start out as a level 10 with several skills and fully geared with uncommon and rare gear.

D3 basically gives you end game sets every season

Forza Horizon starts you off with a supercar and constantly throws prizes and cars at you for doing almost nothing.

Yeah, I would say lots of players today like to just jump right to the “end-game”…which to me is no fun at all. I want to start as as lowly piece of dirt and work my way up.

What does Llama have to do with my comment? If you can’t handle the rng in this game, don’t play it. Firm peaches doesn’t know how to MF properly… Plenty of games are geared towards the soft instant gratification needed crowd. Do us all a favor and hop off it.

I disagree with your premise, sorry. I was like 10 years old first playing D2 (Classic), when it was actually challenging in so many ways that it no longer is. And of course continued into LoD as well, year after year, playing D2. 10 year old me never gave up or complained, I enjoyed every bit and moment of it. So yeah, I’m completely fine, if someone can’t handle the game, especially as easy as it has become, I honestly have no sympathy, sorry. I won’t be sad to see them go/move on.

You disagree that D2R is abandonware? Based on what premise?

Abandonware: The name abandonware alludes to a software or program that no longer receives active support.
The entity that holds the rights to the software has either gone out of business or has been sold to a new owner that is not interested in pursuing its development.

The definition of abandonware describes this game to root… Blizzard is already a puppet company and in 10 months will be completely absorbed.

I’m not gonna argue with you, sorry. If you wanna agree to disagree, that’s fine with me. Also see previous comment edit. Feel however you want with whatever definition you want, I’m not gonna convince you otherwise. I will, however, happily and comfortably, continue to disagree. Especially now that you’ve listed that definition. And believe me, I’m no “actiblizz” fanboy or defending many of the decisions with D2R, I have plenty of gripe with the game. But you’re wrong, plain and simple (at least, in my opinion). Sorry that we disagree.

Another thread complaining about RNG which is pretty much the whole game, what did you expect? D2 is somewhat of a niche game with old phylosophy, this re-release was made for the original fans (and new fans who can endure this old game).

The only thing I agree is the suggestion to add players 8 because yes, public games are garbage due to MFinder killing everything important.

Unique drops based on difficulty is just not a good idea. There’s a lot of normal and exceptional uniques that are good for endgame and farming them in normal or nightmare would make farming worst imo. I’m fine with staying in Hell forever for loot farming.

I don’t disagree with point number one. I would like the option to increase player difficulty in online solo games.

People (MrLlamaSC) talk about how it would be difficult to make it work with other people joining and whatever.

No, it wouldn’t.

Me: Sets player to 2
Game: Sets player difficulty to 2 players
Friend joins game.
Game: keeps player difficulty at 2 players
Different friend joins the game
Game: Sets player difficulty to 3 because THERE ARE THREE PEOPLE IN THE GAME NOW.

It’s not rocket surgery guys, come on. This I think would be an incredibly massive QOL improvement.

I play online to have instant access to my characters across multiple PCs and my Switch.

I absolutely never play with people from BNet because I’m not stupid enough to think I’ll get really great drops and actually get to keep them. Someone out there is always faster with the item pickup. And I don’t care to find out how the devs could change loot in this game to make up for that, I’m perfectly happy playing solo online. It would just be a nice QOL improvement to have difficulty settings.

I agree with you as i play with loot sound up and the rest low
But this is not about noticing but making the ground less clutered

Step one - make a jav zon
Step two - finish hell. Can be done easily without need for gear. Offer your forge for a rush if you must
Step three - farm countess till you can afford a titans. Spirit rune word is nice to have but don’t even need runewords or charms for a javzon to do cows.
Step four - farm cows for high runes
Step five - profit

This is a good method actually.

I have a javazon. She has ravenfrost, bk, cats eye, peace, titan’s revenge (non eth, mid to low), spirit, aldurs, razortail, and +3 jav gloves. Her helm is either a circlet with +to zon skills or a jewlers with +30 ias and 40 damage and 23 light res. And I really don’t like playing her lol. She’s 81 and struggles to clear cows. She has a torch and 3 or 4 skillers… her LF is like 36 or something and most synergies are maxed. And still she’s not great at cows. Must be how I’m playing her, but I just get so bored so fast because it just isn’t fun.

I’m open to suggestions on upgrades that might make her more enjoyable.

I have a +2 circlet, no fcr, a +1 10 fcr ammy, raven frost and manald heal, non Eth 190 titans, non Eth sandstorms, tgod belt, and +1 20 aid gloves. Two +1 gc and a torch. and I used a que hegas and a lidless. It took 3-4 bolts but i cleared hell cows in packs. It’s probably the synergies and talent tree that you could adjust and you’ll be fine! Spirit is cheap enough and you’ll likely find that just as easily as a lidless if not sooner.

I don’t even have a Merc, I just use pots. Just keep in mind I usually just do solo or with one or two friends. I’m not in players 8. And I’ve been able to gear a hammerdin, bowzon, and smiter.
