Lost all Loot on death, Softcore Character

Hi Recently I decided it was time to progress my main character (Sorc) through hell, To do this I prepared as well as I could doing easily over a 1000 NM meph, Andariel, and baals runs. I landed up getting some decent loot including a perfect shako, Spirit shield, and sword and many more painstakingly hard items to get which took me we well over 100+ hours of gameplay.

Earlier today when I was progressing through act 3 in hell, I got swarmed in the flayer dungeon by flayer minions and was unable to get a portal down. The Flayer dungeon was a while away from my nearest waypoint so upon trying to retrieve my loot I kept getting Perma stunned due to having no hit recovery.
Since I did not want to lose all my progress I thought it would be a good idea to equip some of my old gear, Only a ancients pledge shield and a 50% faster cast rate unique. Upon trying to get my body again I died, Knowing now that it was impossible to retrieve either of my bodies I left the game as I logically thought both bodies would be on the ground, I thought wrong. When I loaded into the game this was not the case as only my body with literally two pieces of gear was remaining.

I am not usually one to cry over spilt milk but as most of us diablo players know the amount of effort and determination required to punish yourself with countless hours of Mephisto runs only to lose it all to what seems to be a massive oversight by the developers, Or a glitch is soul-shattering, It really is.

I know Diablo 2 is a punishing game for new players like myself, But losing your gear to a death, permanently in softcore makes no sense to me. I have read multiple other forums that suggest the corpse with the most valuable vendor gear is the one that spawns in your new game, Which for me was definitely not the case, as the only two Items I had equipped on second death was a low-level Ancients pledge and horrible unique, Compared to my fully slotted character who was decked.
I’m sorry that I am so negative but I can’t put into words how upset I am currently, As I was really, really enjoying this remaster :frowning:
Please help devs, I have video evidence of it all if it is required.

I’m afraid that this is not a bug(at least thats how it worked in D2LOD), somebody made a youtube vid on how it works but the gist is if you have two corpses with gear on them, the game will keep the corpse with the highest value of gold if sold to a vendor. I lost a spirit sword and monarch doing something very similar thankfully I didn’t lose my main set though. Sorry I don’t have better news.

according to what i read in single player only your last corpse is stored

What happened was you equipped a new set of gear. If your a veteran of D2 then you should know this. Only the HIGHEST value corpse is kept on restart. More often then not, while your best set is the highest value in your eyes, its generally not the highest GOLD value. Meanwhile whites and such can easily be worth more then uniques in terms of gold value.

This is NOT a bug. If you cannot retrieve your corpse back naked restart. Most players these days restart after just dying once no matter how they think they may be able to retrieve their corpse.

It does sound like it was the highest money loot design. Though it could have been a bug, hard to say since you seem confident that it’s not that case.

However in the end it doesn’t matter if it was a bug/glitch/design. Blizzard won’t take any responsibility, even when it was something on their end causing the issue.

Due to some issue on their end I lost everything. I asked for help… they told me nupe nupe nupe. You can see on my link below of just how many people have lost items or characters and blizzard refuses to take responsibility.

Truly sorry for your loss… I do know first hand just how painful that is. After my experience I won’t play until it’s fixed. No point in playing a game where you can lose everything or some things because they didn’t run this game through enough QA… The original D2 did not have even close to this many issues. Blizzard should have done a better job and try to step up and take responsibility.
