Limit Game Length

There are few good reasons why a game needs to be active for more than an hour.
The only I can really think of off hand is an initial play through. Perhaps hosting duels.
It is unjustifiable that the game list should be choked up with people who haven’t moved on from idling in a “read script” style game for 90 hours a week. Or people who decided that was their last chaos or baal run, and decide to afk - falsely luring people into games that they need to immediately exit.

“How am I going to get an anni if I need d clone to spawn when I’m online?”
I’m sorry. Tough. I miss most of the walks too. Every time a clone walk is announced I notice the games take longer to make. I can assume, perhaps falsely, that it is due to people setting up their account(s) to afk until the spawn. This floods the economy with what used to be a coveted item and clogs up the server. I still feel that Blizzard missed the mark with dclone spawn. Not the point of this topic though.

I often make password protected games for dclone walks that occur during overnight hours so I can kill dclone when I wake up.

Right. Well I wouldn’t want to stifle that even though it might be better if anni was still special. I doubt I’m the only one who noticed the servers are slower when god knows how many people are doing it with many, many accounts.
Public games should close after a reasonable time to not crowd the list.

I figured this would step on somebody’s toes but I feel like you should actually have to be in the right place at the right time to get the reward.

In D2 the games would timeout after awhile of inactivity. People really hated it. Even “perm” games would timeout eventually but you could get a game to stay up for about 2 hours unless other people were actively joining/leaving. The game list refreshes to show the games available. Maybe I am wrong but I dont really see an advantage. If i want to go through the entire game in one session, all the acts I should be allowed to.

There are too many problems with what I was thinking about. Infringes on how people play the game.
Basically, it’s just annoying to click on a baal or chaos run and see the game has been in session for hours. After a certain amount of inactivity the player should be dropped from the game. I know people like to farm annis passively, but it chokes up the server. It’s not necessarily a good thing that anybody could get a stash full of annis if they wanted to. Every time there is a NA clone announced I notice the games take longer to make. Could just be a coincidence, and it’s fine if I’m wrong. I’m talking about 10 seconds attempting to create before getting the door animation - occasionally failing to create.
I figure if there’s any place to talk about my dumb d2 ideas it’s the blizzard forum
Ty for your input

A better solution is to add a filter for game length on the game search function. Or at a minimum restructure the metadata so that you don’t have to wait extra time to see how long a game has been active. The lobby and chat modules of this game need a lot of work.

Dclone will spawn in your first game when you come online if both of the following conditions have been matched.

  1. you sold soj to NPC
  2. The required amount of soj have been sold to NPC by the community

You don’t need to be online 24/7 to wait for Dclone and there will be less anni generated and less leechers.
