Game Suggestions

List of Suggestions from a long-time player (Playing D2 since v1.03):

UI/Fixes

  • THE ENTIRE CHAT SYSTEM.
  • Add a configurable ItemFilter.txt that can hide or recolor drops based on item string, quality, magic level, gold amount, etc. Loot should not be completely hidden by trash.
  • Game List: Filter by game length.
  • Game List: Longer game description field so that it can be meaningful.
  • Character Selection Screen: Show all Quest Status.
  • Character Selection Screen: Show Friend’s List.
  • Option to TURN OFF the bulk stat distribution annoy screen.
  • Option to TURN OFF Quest/Stat/Skill buttons.
  • Client-Side unlimited EnemyList.txt: Auto-Party WILL NOT invite these users.
  • FIX: Holding mouse down to teleport SHOULD NOT cancel casting when mousing over doors, shrines, chests, etc.
  • FIX: Items on the ground SHOULD NOT take precedence over clicking on Doors/Portals/Gateways unless holding the show items hotkey.
  • FIX: Instead of dropping nothing, monsters killed over dead space drop items on the nearest tile.

Quest Fixes

  • Currently, if another player talks to Cain in another act, Cain may no longer be rescued.
  • Currently, if another player enters any Act 2 Zone beyond Claw Viper Temple before the Claw Viper Alter has been smashed and Drognan has delivered his quest text, then the Palace Guard will never let anyone enter the palace regardless of quest progression.
  • Currently, if another player has already turned in the Jade Statue in Act 3, the Jade Statue will never drop regardless of quest progression.
  • Currently, A player who has already saved Anya can ‘steal’ Malah’s Thawing Potion if they interact with Malah after someone else has interacted with Anya and block the quest.

Alterations

  • Crafted ‘Safety Shield’ can apply to Necromancer and Paladin shields, as they are the two classes who cannot otherwise compensate for the Magic Sunder’s negative effect.
  • Allow free movement of Unique charms. Only highest Affix works in inventory. EX: Character holding both a 10/20 and a 20/10 Hellfire Torch gains +3/+20/+20 total benefit.
    It’s annoying AF to have to stash your inventory to be able to pick up anni/torch/gheeds.
  • Rare Jewels gain access to the Repair Durability affix.

New Items

  • Unique class of Tome of Town Portal and Identify with “Increased Stack Size” and “Replenishes Quantity” affix.
  • Unique class of Arrows and Bolts with “Increased Stack Size” and “Replenishes Quantity” affix.

New Horadric Cube Recipes

  • Unique Tome of Town Portal + Materials = Unique Scroll of Town Portal > Unlimited Casts
  • Unique Tome of Identify + Materials = Unique Scroll of Identify > Unlimited Casts
  • Essence of (Color) - Consume to change the GFX Color of a single piece of gear EX: Enigma colored as if it’s base had a Nova Shield mod.
  • Essence of (Skin) - Consume to change the GFX Skin of a single piece of gear EX: Shako that looks like a Bone Helm.
  • Token of Miniaturization - Consume to alter a single item: cuts all modifier values and level requirement in half.
  • Gift of Experience (Level X) - Character loses one level to create consumable of equal experience which can be used by another character, capped at 1 level up.
  • Sainted Soma - Full Rejuvenation Potion + Thawing Potion + Antidote Potion + Stamina Potion effects combined.

That sounds like a pretty powerful tool.

Yes, it would need some special cases … like not working on sunder charms and not being able to give access to OSkills too early, etc, etc.

You forgot…

  • More room in the text portion of game creation to list more items for trade and more details about items

I did forget that, added it to the OP.

I haven’t played a werebear for a very very long time so I don’t understand the issue. IIRC you could hit a max fpa by using a robo weapon, I haven’t fully read the patch changes since legacy, so you’ll have to elaborate on that.

ya they nerfed the way ias works so you can’t hit fast attack speeds anymore as bear, its slow af, which kills all the beast rw bear builds as well.

That sounds unfun/unintentional. Melee builds in general are already drastically weaker than their caster counterparts for most purposes.

I am not convinced it would be a good thing to add an easily available affix that basically renders obsolete the rarest rune in the game.

Rather than making scrolls infinite (might as well remove the item altogether then), I’d rather focus on giving them a dedicated space where it’s practical to store and use them, like two extra belt slots dedicated to scrolls and even books at higher capacity.

You may as well remove arrows from the game, if you are going to make them infinite. There’s a debate to be had for bow mods that let you shoot without arrows, and combination of bow/crossbow skill-like effects with skill effects, but super-quivers that have infinite arrows don’t make sense from an itemization perspective.

What’s the intent behind this request?

This is a terrible idea. The ability to trade XP is a huge source of abuse and RMT. If you limit it at 1 level per book, then players will just acquire tens of books and skip all the leveling process to get from 1 to 99 in record time. If you limit it at 1 level or book per character, then it’ll be useless for your intent, and mainly used to skip most of the grind from 98 to 99.

Other than these, I don’t have significative complaints for the other suggestions, and some of the items are pretty important. Keep up the good work. :+1:

Only in the same way that Fal Rune is obsolete because Perfect Amethyst exists, or Um Rune when Jewels can get 15@ with second mod, etc, etc.

Same result, but adding extra inventory rather than collectable item and quest. Extra inventories have their own host of issues.

Not true at all.

dilutes high level items for low level use, just for fun. IE: Harlequin Crest Miniaturized: +1 To All Skills , +0.75 Life/Mana Per CLvl, Damage Reduced by 5%, 25% MF, +1 to All Attributes, Required Level: 31.
Intent: Fun, you know, because it’s a game.

And? Before they do that, all that experience had to be gathered the old fashioned way. Level penalties apply. Would it ease your distaste if these could only be passed between characters on the same account?

I think the best fix is to take up to 10 years and remake Diablo 2 LoD and call it Diablo V.

I think this is a bug. I thought any number of people could get the thawing potion for Anya, no?

She will only hand out one, so it’s possible someone who has the quest completed talks to malah, accidentally takes the potion, and doesn’t notice.
