I used to be completely for not changing the game. After playing for so long in the new age, it’s clear we need a lot of changes. There’s so many class disparities, gear disparities, prioritization disparities, and just an overall lack of end game content. And the problem isn’t that the ladder is too long, it’s that the gear available to us at the end game equivalates to almost zero challenge in game play. It still takes an exuberant amount of time to get your end game gear, so reducing the ladder time is not the proper response to this. The correct response is to add something similar to M+, or Torrent waves that can perhaps reward re-rolls on runewords, new items that could unlock new prioritizations, and just overall new innovative stuff. I’m not suggesting items drop that increase our power in any significant manner. I’m suggesting items that maybe help us reach our maximum potential, and then continue to push us in difficulty.
What a wild ride that could be for hardcore too huh? Instead of just a meaningless ladder, we could have an alternative way to level, with repeatable content, that increases in difficulty, and actually contributes towards progressing our characters.

No thank you. I like the game how it is.

New content can come with a paid expansion. If you like the game how it is, simply don’t buy the expansion.
They’d be stepping on a lot of peoples toes forcing new stuff into a 21 year old game. A paid expansion is the logical solution, plus they’ll make some more money from the game.

Why expand a 20 year old game and not just make the future Diablo games not complete garbage?

The game is not even a year old
If you want to play the 20yo game, please do it, go back playing LOd
And let this recent game evolve like it should
Doesn’t need to be an expansion to not step on purists feelings, just create a game mode with vanilla D2R content
Ofc purists will still whine because there will be only 4-5 people on that realm

I don’t know if you are aware of this, but the original game is the beating heart of D2:R.
It’s a “remaster”. REMASTER. REMASTER. Got it? Probably not.

And the changes that have been made since launch invalidate your argument sorry, it isn’t a strict remaster anymore
And having a vanilla and a updated realm still keeps it a strict remaster since the option is there

Skill balancing, quality of life, changing how dclone spawns and the addition of some runewords and cube recipes doesn’t invalidate the remastered status.
Try harder next time.
Don’t you have your daily 100 threads to create? I need some new threads to instamute.

As long as they stay away from MTX, I’d totally pay for a proper expansion worth of new content. Not even necessarily a new act, they could add new areas to existing acts, sprinkle randomized events around the maps, new gear, new bosses… stuff like that.

What is a remaster then? Where is the line drawn?
Seems pretty much like an arbitrary line drawn by your personal opinion rather than a tangible thing
When blizzard North was in charge, Diablo 2 was an evolving game on many fronts, including core aspects…
The game got 10 content&balance patch within like 3 years of support
imho a remaster of Diablo 2 isn’t a remaster if it doesn’t also have this core design philosophy of continuously improving

They added Runewords in the old game after launch too as well as balancing and stuff. I definitely consider this a continuation of OG D2. They just started giving us a few fresh things that they stopped doing for years. Definitely a remaster and not a different game.

I don’t like the idea of expansions or new playable content outside of balancing and runewords. The story. The gameplay. It’s all fine.
What I would like to see is regular ladder launches. Updates on QoL and balancing type things. And the invention and removal of runewords. That way the meta shifts now and then.
Other than simple stuff like that I love the game how it is.
Definitely not. Spambots are only interested in their own spam.

Have a feeling there is only Sekscalibure and his 100 reddit troll accounts advocating for weird changes while everyone else just enjoys the game the way it is.
Wouldn´t be surprised if the other 10 people here advocating for useless changes are him aswell.

You may disagree with him or other members, that’s fine and valuable unless constructive. I don’t agree with every change suggested, but some things can be toned down to be more subtle.
But the moment you start to criticize other people for opinions, no matter how you disagree with them, you are instantly invalidated. No one is going to fit to your feelings, people gonna post suggestions as long as they see fit and until devs are open to it. If people will not be fine with the game they will just drop it and play something else.

maybe not a new difficulty but maybe something like PoD has? maps that has a lot of weird immunity combos so it requires teamplay that no combo build or infinity can break

I’m sorry, but this is the wrong way to think about criticism.
Anyone who comes forward with an opinion/idea for something that affects others must expect criticism. It’s up to the one with the opinion/idea on how to interpret that criticism to; offer rebuttal to discredit the criticism, accept the criticism as correct and modify their opinion/idea, or disband the opinion/idea entirely. The other options are to ignore the criticism, or go on the defensive and claim that anyone who criticizes their opinions/ideas are “trolls”.
Criticism helps make opinions/ideas better, a lot of people just don’t realize it or they are too busy being “offended” by it.

Someone mentioned PoE again… that game sucks so hard. Even a huge majority of the community that left said they were trying to do too much.
