For Season 3, in an effort to make 2H-weapons become more competitive in the current meta, I would like to propose that each point of Strength would increase your two-handed weapon damage according to item rarity as follows:
Two-Handed Weapon Rarity | Strength Damage Bonus (+X%) |
---|---|
Normal | +1.5% per point |
Superior | +2.0% per point |
Magic | +2.0% per point |
Crafted | +2.5% per point |
Rare | +2.5% per point |
Set | +3.0% per point |
Unique | +3.0% per point |
Note: Currently, each point of STR increases your damage dealt by 1% of your weapon’s damage. This would be unchanged for 1H-weapons
For example, if you have 100 points in STR, you would do 300% more weapon damage with a unique/set 2H-weapon, 250% more for a rare/crafted, etc. versus 100% for 1H-weapons.
The main benefit of this change is it would buff 2H-weapons across the board and does not require massive overhaul/testing. The alternate approach is to buff base weapon damage, which should be done in tandem with this change for a comprehensive revamp.
Lastly, this change promotes more build diversity with players pursuing Strength based characters and adds more value to the Strength Attribute (e.g. beyond stat req. for gear).
