How about we remove immunities from normal monsters but keep them on elites and uniques? I don’t want that mechanic to be totally gone after all as well. That way we still need tactic to deal with them to progress hell (seal bosses, ancients or other quest monsters) but don’t have to skip entire maps of monsters which is very weird gameplay.
See… This is an entirely fair and logical suggestion for the mechanic… But I mean, all normal monsters only have 1 immunity, right? So you should still have a plan B skill to handle these.
If Blizz made this change though, I wouldnt mind it as much as tanking the whole system entirely because a few refuse to utilize the option to deal with dual immunities or just cant break from their loaded Blizz or Lightning Sorc…
“Play my way otherwise you are scums”
Meanwhile Normal people advocate for people to play whatever the way they want
Immunities add a challenge to the game - if you take them away you have to add some other challenge to maintain balance.
Sometimes you will have to skip a monster, or use a secondary element of skills, or equip an item which helps you break that immunity. This is all part of the challenge.
For me immunities stay. Heck, why not have more of them so people choose a wider variety of builds? We dont want snakes and ladders without the snakes.
Uhhhh immunities reduce the build diversity lol
Who says that was my way? I was actually referring to the 1 skill lazy player who refuses to do anything else.
Hahaha… No they dont, they force build diversity.
Challenge of teleporting over them.
Thats a choice you make, not an ultimatum. Plenty of options to combat them if you want to.
They do and don’t help with build diversity. early hell they force a diversity of builds but in late hell once people get end game gear almost every top player goes to the few builds that don’t really care about them. I agree with you though that taking it away is not the best solution. I personally would like to see all immunities be able to be broken. Maybe change the calculation for lower resist and conviction to be the current one but if the monster is still going to be immune it gives them a max resistance of 95%.
This is a great suggestion. Open the door for more ways to break them. That would likely add to the biggest build diversity right there with item selection to complete certain areas.
I’ll say no because it needs to go away from LR/conviction dependency
The fact is, you cant fight fire with fire. You need to find something which is damaging to fire, like water - just like in Pokemon. It is important to maintain that challenge. Sorcs have it easy enough as is - as do Javas.
Uhhh yes you can
First of all wildfires are fought with fire…
Even in Ur Pokémon example, you just deal less damage to a Squirtle using water attacks… around 65% iirc
even Pokémon got resist better than D2’s immunities lol
I don’t get why people are so adamant on no being able to deal damage to monsters unless you are a specific class built a certain way or throw large sums of currency at it
Immunities cause more problem than it solves
Not sure about immunities increasing build diversity. If I can’t go pure fire and I make fire/cold hybrid for example what are the chances I’ll want to make another cold damage character? Lower because I already played with cold skills.
I’d say they promote to find other player that uses different damage type. That definitely makes hell easier than just solo. But the game isn’t mmo so is it okay to make it more difficult for solo players?
Yep, immunity removes the viability of Focussing builds, therefor reducing build diversity
Can you kill fallens with a fire build? Nope
Could you kill fallens with a fire build without immunities? Yes
Yet this dude keeps defending this blatantly falsehood that immunity brings build diversity lol
You two really need to look up the definition of diversity, before we can have an educated discussion on this topic.
Ill coles notes it for you, you: I want to play with 1 skill. Diversity: Using multiple skill builds.
Really am getting bored with you Seks, try harder ok?
Then what about a fact that nobody played fire druid until they made area without fire immunes lvl 85?
Pssst don’t tell him why people like the cow level so much
Pretty sure that had alot more to do with Fire Druid skills being underpowered and needing a buff and next to zero regarding the adjusted area?
you need to look at the common definition of what build diversity in a game is. cause if every sorceress dual specs into 2 of three elements it may be skill diverse but not what most would call build diversity. just like in movies having one minority would not allow a movie to say it has a diverse cast.
