D2R is slap. Pretty good remake.
It was nothing more than hype from D2 LoD!
How many people bought D2? Was it less than 30 million?
How long after D3 release on PC did D3 release on switch?
No telling how many people bought D2! Ive probably purchased D2 + Lod at least 8 times for various reasons! D3 will never be purchased by myself more than once!
You could try an internet search such as Google.
Its not possible to know how many bought D2! Many of its long time players had to buy it multiple times for various reasons.
how can you even compare two games sales, coming out over 10 years apart, in different gaming eras, and technological times. There is too much to account for.
How about how many copies sold?
Iâm not entirely sold on Diablo 4. I think they should have made a lot more classes. Across the franchise, you have 12 archetypes. For example: Crusader is essentially the same as a paladin so thats one archetype. If you combine the duplicate style classes it comes up to be about 12 archetypes. I think 8 classes in D4 would be fair. For Diablo 4 to succeed it needs to dwarf the other 3 games in both scope and concept. I donât know if they have the ambition to make Diablo 4 the game it deserves to be and the game the players deserve to have.
fun fact, d3 has more concurrent users than d2r.
He will keep comparing apples to oranges in the hopes he can prove D3 is a superior game to D2 and by association, D2R. Itâs a foolâs errand to try and debate with him why D3 only sold as well as it did because of D2:LoD. Forget all of this:
Just save your braincells and let him keep petitioning for ploot and playersX until he goes away.
Which games someone prefers is personal preference. Sales numbers are facts.
D2 released first then D3 then D2R. D2/D2R has primacy and recency among those 3. If you argue that D3 has more sales than D2 given its later release date then that argument could also be made about D2R versus D3.
fun factâŚ
Sold copies is not players, like some of the liers will say
Blizzard said that D3 had 65 million players. You can take it up with Blizzard what they precisely meant (players or copies sold or something else).
And here:

âTo show our undying appreciation for the support of more than 65 million Nephalem worldwide over the past 10 yearsâ - Blizzard

âliersâ =/= âliarsâ
I think Failure of d3 and blizzard issues damaged reputation of diablo brand alot and it was main reason why it didnt get as many sales as it could. I know countless pepple who bought d3 just because of d2 was amazing. But on other hand i know many who didnt buy d2r because or how d3 was bad. Blizzard should have made more changes to game and dont advertise it just as remaster to lure more people to it. Also they could hype it alot more.
This is one of the criticisms for D2Rs lack of success. It is technically a superb remake. Its failure is that it is not drawing in new players. Its getting old d2 players for the most part.
Yeah and also it was released in worst time possible when blizz had big legal issues.
I know alot of ppl who didnt buy d2r because d2 were bad and outdated. That doesnt make d2 a bad game nor does it mean it hurt the brand.
U think wrong. It wasnt a failure as it was the most sold pc game of all time back then. It was and is a success. It increased the diablo fanbase and plenty ppl who never played d2 played d3. Might not suit your taste but it surely didnt hurt the brand. The fact that they still implent things in d3, released a diablo game for mobile and working on d4 suggest that the fanbase increased alot since d2 and thats its still growing.
You didnt get it. It could have been success financialy but in eyes of most players, yes it was failure. D3 isnt bad game, its bad diablo title.
How does this make sense? Yes it was outdated and thats why it was remastered. And bad? Damn thats rare thing to hear, how many people can say it was bad game lol?
Please provide documentation that in the eyes of most players that D3 is a failure. It had 65 million players where the majority bought the game after D3 was out a year. If most players thought the game was a failure, why did players keep buying it after a year.
I think that you should read other forums. Although D2 was my favorite game back in the day, many people have issues with the game. Even for those who bought D2R, many quit quickly. I am not one of th
