Because I am out of slots. My shared banks are also full. Yes, I want to keep everything because in D2LOD I could do that.

Unlimited character slots will never happen. At least not before they come up with a storage device capable of storing infinite data…
The most we can hope for is them to raise the max character slots, which is definitely possible… And I agree, 50 character slots would be the ideal number, as it would allow us to create one of each class, in every mode of play, ladder and non-ladder. But even then, item hoarders would eventually be right back in the same situation once they fill those slots up, once again begging for more character slots.
Most of us were aware of the character slot limitations when we started playing the game… It’s up to us to manage the space wisely. I think the ultimate goal is them trying to break us of our OG hoarding habits.
Character slots may have seemed “unlimited” in the OG, but we also had that 90 day timeout to worry about. You’d eventually run into the issue of spending more time refreshing your characters than actually playing the game.
Do some spring cleaning… Give some items away. Trade items for runes to consolidate their value. I’m sure there are some commonly found items you have that you can get rid of. What’s the point in hoarding it all if you’re not going to either use or trade it soon?

this is the issue most player have with this game , the old game you have np to make new account and have unlimited character and bank space , now your only opition is buy a other game , wait for -50% $ off

Yes, I could do that and it is cheap. There are issues with that and they need to solve it:
1-I have re-adding all my friends 2- having this transfer item between account issues.

50 is ideal for 1 mod alone…although i only play softcore
hardcore players should not need more than 10-15 because once they die their char gone for good…unlike softcore ppl they dont need as much slots…although they may possibly some softcore too
i use to have 40 account in og for your info jedi…amount to 320 char(half of them were mules)…if that says anything the amount of builds in D2 is around 160
although since then i came to pick builds i actually enjoy over others

Wowzers, you were a mega hoarder in the OG. Thanks for sharing! Probably a good thing there is a limit in D2:R eh? It gives you some sense there is some sort of “end” to this game after all. Or, perhaps help you learn a new skill that doesn’t come in the form of pixels… Learning to use your space more wisely. Or maybe, just maybe… Help wean you off the game.

D2 character files are 8KB. I can store every current D2R character on one of my harddrives.
Blizzard is worth $65,000,000,000. You’d think they could afford TWO hard drives.
They don’t store the data on just a single drive…
Yeah it’s the main reason I rarely play these days.

It’s simple dude. If LoD could have infinite characters back in the early 2000’s then there is ZERO excuse for why they can’t now.
Other than they want to sell accounts.
Or maybe they didn’t want a repeat of what they went through on the OG servers by having to constantly upgrade the storage capacity when all of the botter/item seller accounts kept endlessly filling their “stock”. The legitimate hoarders are only a part of the problem.

Server capacity now is so many orders of magnitude higher than it was then that this is entirely irrelevant.
If there isn’t a limit in place, then the problem will continue.
If you want more storage capacity, buy another copy of the game.
Nah I’ll just be here with the rest complaining and waiting. While not buying other Blizzard projects.
