How important is pvp to Diablo 2 players

there is a huge difference between being able to attack someone and a game having modes built in…

some fps games have friendly fire it doesn’t mean they have a full compliment of pvp maps and modes.

or in mmos like world of warcraft, it had “pvp” but it didn’t have modes till they added in battlegrounds and arenas and world based objectives.

What’s you email adress? For Xmas imma buy you a course on how to learn to read

Did I say Hostile?

I said Dueling… where is there a mention of dueling in the game

There is a big difference between hostility and dueling

Blizzard North simply added the ability to kill other players, what people did with it after isn’t a feature

Ha, you really getting worked up aren’t you. Sorry this is making you so emotional.

You are saying that they didn’t forsee or intend for people to consensually duel each other with the hostile button? That’s ridiculous.

Ofcourse people were going to kill eachother without consent, but you believe they in no way intended for it to happen as a duel as well?

Just because they didn’t spell it out for you word by word doesn’t mean it wasn’t intended. Where did you gain this ability to read the developers minds and know their intent?

And for that matter, why do I care how the developers intended me to play? If I’m having fun in a way they didn’t intend, is my fun not valid?

if they did i think they would have added a accept/decline option like other games around that time such as everquest/wow

they didn’t want consent to be a part of pvp in diablo 2

It has no game modes
It has no rewards that progress your character exp or gear reward
It does not have a ladder
It is more for hardcore players or that’s the most use for the hostile button jumping someone and killing them and getting gear is somewhat useful baring the person had good gear but as far as PvP goes it has nothing going forward most people just ignore it Because even watching d2 pvp is lame duck

Not important at all.

very important in softcore, not so much in hardcore.

Not important to me, so I would never want the game to suffer merely for the benefit of PvP. But no reason the game can’t be good for everyone.

be a day 1 diablo 2 player , pvp is a huge part of the game

back in the old day pvp use to be the end game , remember all the class shout time to die  d2 is a game desing around pvp

you farm mf too find the best gear( to be the king of the hill , (player have rare gear anyone have the same gear 95% of the time )

back them pvp use to be very fun

after 1,10 i do more pve because i refuse to spam enigma so my option are way to limited too pvp and feel the pvp is broken with a few item dominating with bad balance , compare the old pvp , so right now only farming pve mean a bit boring

If the forums doesn’t have much pvpers, at least inform those to vote by logging here and vote on this poll. The fact that a poll was done means that the purpose was to collect data, either if you agree or not.

This could be useful if reach decent amount of folks who legitimally vote.

While can have some noise in the system, right now it’s minority accordingly with the data. If was important, they would voice their concerns here also. 3rd party channels wouldn’t have impact at least not on devs choice. Unless directly related channels to devs themselves.

It’s fun to have a secret club, but if that secret club doesn’t voice themselves pretty much the rest of the crowd wouldn’t know how they feel.

Any poll with some kind of validation, like requiring game key and posted here. Would have more “reliability” than any other poll.

While the most reliable way would blizzard doing themselves it, doesn’t mean that folks creating polls couldn’t help. I mean, some “named” on “diablo” franchise already made some polls in the past. While with not much “announcement”.

Maybe it’s time for folks “unite” in a single way or for blizzard enable poll on forums or blizzard app on their end.

Btw, I would suggest better poll also.

You should address like this:

“For you, pvp in d2r generates what kind of experience:”
1- positive
2- neutral
3- negative

That would address folks who doesn’t care, who care negatively and who care positively.

I think effort to improve PvP should be directed to D4, where PvP is part of the design.

Seems the majority say its not important. Also seems its either very important or not. Very polarized community.

that’s just the way it is for pvp and pve always been that way.
only a select few have been able to balance the two sides.

Very important.
It is the sole reason to get high-lvl eq, to collect eq and to improve your character.
Also the only end-game this game has.

PvM is easy and repetitive. PvP is dynamic requires a lot of knowledge that almost none of pure PvM players even posses.
Also the only reason some items even have any worth at all or even extreme worth at that matter.

Not at all for me. PvE game for me. Poll results are interesting, we shall see if it holds up that way.

Which is why that pvp zone in D4 is going to fail just as hard as whatever-the-eff they called that zone in The Division.

Forcing PVE players to go into PVP for rewards, always backfires. In. Every. Game. However, if the reward for doing the PVP isn’t as good as doing the PVE, the PVP community whines with the wrath of a thousand crying toddlers.

the dark zone lol…

I found what seems to work is not have the division…of the players social class in the first place.

if the player combat is incorporated in such a way that it becomes ingrained in the culture, it seems to foster more of a solid group of participants.

sometimes folks who don’t pvp themselves, become involved in the behind the scene work required to pull it off. They say, if you can no longer do - teach
