Hardcore 89 lvl char died due to server disconnect

Lol, what? This has always been an issue/risk in HC. If you think people didn’t get disconnects and deaths in HC back in the day that they couldn’t control then you’re in denial.

HC deaths due to connection drops were most definitely an issue with the original game.

Take off the rose tinted glasses.

I am still angry at my neigbour who cut of power killing my char at pindleskin 20 years ago.

I agree.

Playing HC in original d2 has not been a problem for 20 years because the client is disconnected by server after 8 seconds.
It is currently 40 seconds which is nonsense in a game where characters die within 5 seconds max, and we can tele/tp/exit instantly.

  • Also, the server used to communicate whether players were being disconnected or were intentionally leaving the game. Now the server only says a player left the game.

This is also an other reason why the game feels less social because we don’t know if we should wait players to come back to finish questing. This should come back too. D2, WC3, Starcraft do state if people drop or leave. Games feel too self centered now, everybody in their bubble ( for various reasons : channel-less lobby, sunder, solo muling, auto invite…) and we need more awareness of other players.

  • The connection itself seems very difficult to be retrieved if the signal is stopped for a few seconds (because of hardware or connection issues) compared to OG.
In OG we can at least join an other game to force disconnect the character, which is no longer the case.

Jesus are you going to ressurect every dead thread about hc? With misinformation aswell

People still believe that HC is about staying alive and player skills?
Haha, it’s just a luck game of “when will you get a server lag that will kill you”.

I have an unstable connection in Asia so I’ll never be able to play hardcore which sucks.

Why would Blizzard try to make a game that pleases everyone if it doesn’t bring more $?
Fixing HC doesn’t sell more copies of the game, so why bother?
