all bots use maphack so they got banned too
they use different versions of it … my understanding is that one version was hit this time. all bots are not gone, there are numerous still running.
You can’t teach a dead man a lesson. 
A perma ban for using a Map assist program does not meet the severity when other more egregious apps are allowed to slip by. I am sad to have lost so many friends who are not interested in coming back since the season is over for them.
Since we are all being honest here, don’t pretend that your hands are clean. You and I have all benefited from others using MA. Intentionally or otherwise, in one way or another. Those fast Baal runs, power leveling etc. Unless you played SSF everones account that intentionally played with MH or botters should be penalized, including mine.
The fact that Blizzard allowed this app to run for months and then boom no warning was a political move on their part. I know Blizzard had every right to do so, but in my opinion, how they handled this matter was in poor taste. MA users are not the problem, Blizzard should have used a scare tactic as “prevention” is the best deterrent. I think Blizzard is being cautious of going after the big guys.
Yea I saw the responses from others posting on discord, it’s funny. deva, those “Game Masters”, have 0 power to restore your account. All they can do is look at the same information you got and transfer you to other game masters who cannot help you.
I heard it’s over 100K. The issue with using 3rd party apps like MA or Thud is that once you start using them, the original gameplay starts to suck because you will get used to the constant stream of useful updates. I can only assume that Blizzard did not like that they could not keep up with the rate of updated MA was providing and was losing control of the game. People get used to the QOL benefits and don’t want to go back to an inferior gameplay. Look at D3, I think the majority of the player base use some kind of Hud to play the game. These are just my opinions.
Thats why I love to play mods in single player.

unfortunately the spambots don’t… and i would argue they are a much bigger issue than the other bots… because they affect MY game, anbd my ability to use chat channel. where as the botters generally bot in their own game and have much less of a negative effect.

Stop be hypocrite!! That is very crazy punishment for people spent money on a crap Company… They should give a second change, how about spambots all time advertising buy stuff?
And blizz I hope you lost all players for be so greed ,so punishment for someone’s and other do hard eye.
Diablo 2 rem was ok, diablo immo worst game ever and diablo 4 go with same away if they put to much loot box or scam pay 2 win boost… So tell me how a dead man learn the lesson if the all franchise are already dead? They should teach not be diablo itself.

This we agree on at least.
They make 8billion in profit a year and have done for past 4-5 years , I don’t think 100k user’s means anything to them, since they lost over half their player base in that time and still make the same amount money.
Seriously stop crying about it , no one on this forum cares , there is no sympathy here, if you want to play buy another account or time to move on and let it go.

Well if memory serves me right, back in classic d2, it wasn’t always an instant permaban of your key + account. Sometimes they left your account untouched but banned your key, sometimes other way around and I’m pretty sure there were temporary bans for certain violations (no not talking about temp bans for making way too many games after 1.10). Still, gaming world has changed and cheaters are everywhere now, any form of ban that isn’t permanent would be a mere slap on the wrist…
I understand that the spam bots are annoying and affect the use of chat channels, but objectively speaking, there is no argument that can be made that the spam bots are a bigger problem than the bots that do loot runs or run public games such as Baal games.
The spam bots don’t do anything that affects actual game play or the economy of the game. The bots that are running games 24x7x365 are finding high value items and high runes constantly, with no effort from actual players, at rates that are impossible to be matched by human players. This causes a debasement of the value of items found by actual players, leading to items being difficult to trade, and people checking out of the ladder super early. It also facilitates the RMT sites that the spam bots advertise. It’s much more reasonable to think that the number of spam bots would dramatically decrease if the game running bots were eliminated, because most likely the people behind the sites being advertised wouldn’t be able to have any items to sell on them if they didn’t have bots to run and find the items for them.
Furthermore, of note is that the problems with the chat system are as much Blizzard’s fault as the spam bots fault, because the chat and lobby system in D2R is fundamentally flawed, broken, and fails to deliver on the basic functionality of LOD’s chat and lobby system and has since launch. So even if the spam bots didn’t exist, you still wouldn’t be able to use the chat system properly.
I got banned for botting , MH was always perma ban.
Never heard anyone have this happen.
It was worse back then the wild wild west it is also what made it alot of fun , or did for me , I mean just think back to how many hacks, scams there were , hacked bugged items etc etc.
I was like 15 it was hella fun.
Charsi dupe was insane 8 hours of Diablo one of my fondest memories of D2.
The EULA is presented during installation and most often skipped…

Remember, online play is a “service”. Common sense dictates what is permitted and what isn’t.

So maphack is not cheat just assist? Than bots are only kill/movement assists? Come on… cheat is cheat… Read EULA…
